I have two of these in my 90 and they have been good citizens, may i ask which fish disappeared? I know the green serpent starfish are known to hunt fish but that doesn't look like the green variety.
Definitely agree on this, the exact reason why I downgraded my sump from a 30 long to a 20 long. I needed more room for media reactors, dosers, etc.. Definitely keep that in mind when choosing the size of your sump.
I've been contemplating on getting a sand shifting goby for my 90 but whole sand in the water column situation worries me. I already get bothered when my powerheads pick up some sand. lol I will probably eventually give in and get one. sigh..
as far as any ill effects of sand being in the water...
i use a 20 long for my 90 gallon. usually the bigger the better for increased water volume but if the 20 is the biggest you can fit under your tank then you're kinda stuck with that size. remember the main purpose of a sump is for a place to put your skimmer, heaters, reactors etc...
You could of gotten a bad batch or expired bottle. I've used Bio-Spira with my very first 45 Gallon tank and my 90 Gallon tank that I have now and never had issues. I let the tanks sit for about a week and test. Not saying that these things are 100% but they do work.
i still need to pick up the frags i asked you to hold for me, if i find sometime this weekend. ill take them this weekend, if not definitely next weekend!!
I was there last night, he is still working on a couple of things and waiting on shipments. He said 2 weeks is when he will expect to have everything set up.
I actually have a 48" 3w Quad Model running on my 90 gallon. I must admit that the color is a tad bit more white than I would like but they are actually good fixtures for the price. They were growing my SPS until I had a mini-cycle happen due to a sump/refugium change and lost most of them...
George, thanks for that detailed reply! I was imagining everything as I was reading! lol do you guys have any suggestions on epoxy?? my current rock work is like hilling wall, with various caves. I want to go for a more abstract two island look.
