What would be the effects of running a unit full of crushed coral?
Would it help stabilize a small tanks ph? Help sustain calcium levels as the crushed coral breaks down. Just be a waste of time and would see no difference in anything?
Thanks for the info
Wow these look like top quality units.
Quick question. What type of media does everyone run in theirs beside carbon and GFO (not sure what exactly gfo is but am looking it up now)
Could you run a phos guard type product in it or what would be the effect if you packed it full of say crushed...
See now my 3 peppermint shrimp are exactly the opposite. I have a hammer, frogspawn a torch and 2 bubbletips. They will steal the food from the bubbletips and annoy them occasionally when they shrink and shrivel to expel waste but have never bothered my corals
Another thing to watch for with a U/V when you buy it is how it is rated from the manufacturer. Most can be used for multiple applications IE ponds freshwater setups and salt setups.
So a U/V unit may be rated for say 200 gal but that could be when used on a pond and not a salt water tank. Flow...
I've used one as well and what everyone has said above is true. My glass was a bit less dirty and the water seemed to be a bit cleaner but good tank maintenance can do that for you as well. The key to getting any value out of a U/V is FLOW. I had a 36w unit on my 125 for a while and used a...
We brine d our last turkey (Had it for Canadian Thanksgiving last month) and it was awesome. Best bird I ever had.
My wife had never successfully cooked a whole turkey or a whole chicken for that matter and it came out perfect.
Would definitely brine our next one that we cook at home
I have 3 150w icecap 20k double ended halide bulbs for trade. Used 6 hrs a day for approx 4 months.
I am not going to use them any time soon....all my current setups use t-5's
Coral trades with someone who could use these would be great (sorry dont have any room for fish but reef safe inverts...
Ich is a pain and is tough to get rid of. Once it is in the tank it gets into everything....rocks sand you name it. You will need to treat all the fish if you decide to do so. Treating only the visibly infected one will not solve the problem.
A pic of the infected fish would go a long way to...
Wow you got 6 yrs out of your seals.....mine were shot in less than 2.
I have 4 of the xp 3's sitting....all need the seals replaced. Last good one I had leaked between the canister and the motor
Made a big mess.
LOL it is funny.
I had a 125 and had to reinforce my floor to be on the safe side. But I also live in a mobile home built in the early 70's and it is not on a slab foundation.
My solution was a platform of 2x10's supported by 6 30k lb floor jacks (not called lolly jacks but something else and...
There is a rubber ring between the bottom of the impeller area that compresses to the top of the collection baskets when it is all assembled. If it is bad or damaged in any way it will let water bypass the baskets and not filter properly. Image sucks but you should get the idea.
