2 of my recent coral purchases from my LFS have bubble algae. I've glued the two discs, but should I pull them off the rock then try to scrape the algae off? Will it grow back? Any other way to get rid of it. It's really annoying since one was a really nice blasto :'( ... the other is a little...
Well the ironic thing is yesterday when i picked up some new corals from the LFS, they told me I should dose calcium. I'm glad I didn't because I got a test kit for CA and one for KH. They are both too high.
CA=450
KH=11.2, Alk=4.00
What's the best way to LOWER these?
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
James, the tank is looking superb. Keep it going.
After taking a few months off, after my new setup failure, I've finally got my 120 up and running and a few weeks ago started adding fish and coral. woohoo.
Thanks guys. Not using a kit, instead using a hanna probe which has always been pretty acurate. Maybe I just need more live stuff in there as hawkeye says "breathing". thx.
What's the best way to lower ph without buying more equipment? My ph is now up to 8.7 :o
Tank was setup around Jan timeframe but was never fully hooked up till 2 weeks ago. Has now had 50% water change, and rest of parameters that I test for, amonia, trites, trates are ok although trates won't...
Thanks adesimone. Ok, just want to make sure I get what you're saying.
You have your RODI plumbed straight to the tanks and are using a float valve. Sounds good. But then you have a second line for water changes? That's the part I don't really get. If so, what diameter tubing are you using...
That makes sense. We have carpet over our hardwood, so I'm thinking that if the hole is small enough, and in the corner of the room by the baseboard, that the carpet will hide it. If we ever pull the carpeting, a small hole that size should be easy enough to deal with. Good to keep in mind...
Looking for some advice. Tank is a 120 and still isn't totally setup.
I have a laundry room beneath the tank and I'd like to keep my RODI water, both salt and topup water in the basement then pump it up on demand. What size pump am I looking for? Also, if I do this, am I putting an auto topoff...
Hey now. As a typical guy, I'm proud to never read directions. :o ;D Just kidding. Yeah, I read them, but it never said anything about how much the faucet should be turned on.
thx. I have a 120g, but right now the water from the RO/DI is going into a 55g drum in the basement. I have a float valve but for the life of me can't figure out how to set up an ATO.
Just set up my RO/DI unit today. It's currently in the slop sink till I get it hooked up permanently. Dumb question, and you should expect no other kind from me ;D , is how far on do I want my faucet? I know it's cold only, but do I put it on just a trickle, full bore, 1/2, 1/4" I'm fast...
