Well, looks like I won't have to dip him. He's gone. He was fine this morning. Came home and he looked bad and is now gone. :(
Second darn picasso we've lost now. I think we're done with them for awhile. If it is clownfish disease, do I need to worry about the canary blenny or orange firefish...
14g biocube with a picasso b, yellow blenny and orange firefish. Also has some coral ranging from acan to gsp to frogspawn. Parameters seem good with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, 480 calcium, 8.2ph, 1.024Sg and 77 deg.
This would be the second clown that's died in the last 2 months (this...
Congrats on the startup. When you read my comments below, please keep in mind that I’m a total newb and have only had my small 14g up and running for a few months now. So there is a ton that I need to learn as well. Hopefully the comments will come across as constructive as that’s how they are...
Updated pic below:
All parameters right where they belong and everything appears to be thriving. Lots of new growth on the corals and we found tons of baby snails the other morning.
I have a 14g and between putting in some phosban, scaling back the lights to about 2hrs a day for 2 days, and dropping in 1 emerald, almost all of it is now gone. I've also pulled out what I could. Main reason for the emerald was the bubble algae I was starting to get. Are your phosphates up?
Finally got a metal halide on my 14g biocube. We want a yellow clown goby and I've been told that they do better when you have a few acros in the tank. So I'm looking for my first or two acros. I'm trying to avoid anything that's going to require any dosing as I currently am not doing that and...
Wasn't planning on going the reactor route. I currently have it tossed in the middle back chamber (it's the all in one biocube 14g with 3 back chambers). The chamber it's in is between a chamber that has a heater and the chamber that has the pump.
Phosphates were up to .25 (had never checked them till last night). Chris from OGII suggested phosban. For my 14g I put in 10g (cause I think that's about how much water it actually holds). So how quick should I notice a drop and how long do I leave it in? thx.
Thanks everyone.
Starfish is a purple brittle star. We're getting rid of it regardless. Maybe replace it with an orange linkia (sp?).
The only other fish in the tank was a yellow headed sleeper goby. The two of them would pal around and appeared to be best friends. Clown was doing well, even...
Yes, was grade b picasso. Still haven't found him and at this point, since the tank is so small, I have to assume he died and that the brittle star consumed whatever was left. I need to get rid of that damn star, but would really like to know what made the clown die. :(
Thanks calaxa.
I was hoping to pick up some Oraglo or one of the others today after work, but the clown was MIA this morning, so now I don't know if it died and the brittle ate it, or if it was just super well hidden. It's only a 14g so there aren't a million places it can hide. :(
So we've had our picasso now for almost a month and everything has been fine. It's been eating, and swimming around. For the last week it's been hosting a small rock anenome that we've had for just over a week. I noticed last night that it was just swimming in a back corner where the flow is...
