Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Looking for either some guidance or wisdom here please.
I recently purchased a used 120g with stand and it came with a fugly canopy. I’m not sure which direction to take, open top or canopy and here are my thoughts.
Originally planned on using a canopy because I wanted either MH or T5 lights...
Wendy, would you mind telling me where you got that light setup or what it is? I'd like to go a similiar route with my 4' long 120 but am really struggling with understanding T5 setups. Thank you.
After seeing one pic of her T5 setup, I need to ask, do companies sell full units like that which can simply be mounted inside a canopy or do you have to build your own? Also, where are the ballasts? Are the ballasts external like for MH? Thx.
Still in the process of setting up my new 2 me 120g. I thought I had it all figured out and was going to use a MH retro kit. Here are my thoughts though and I'm trying to figure out if I'm thinking correctly or not.
If I run MH and the canopy is an AGA canopy, then I'll likely have the lights...
I have it in the back of the truck now. I'm going to put a few gals of vinegar in it and drive to a self-service car wash. Figure the high pressure "rinse" water outta do the trick with the vinegar.
Sorry can't help, but I'm in the same boat with my 120g that I need a skimmer for. I'd like to stay internal but am greatly overwhelmed by all that's out there. Want to keep sps and lps all while getting the quietest model I can possibly find.
Today I picked up a used 120g. Man there is so much crap caked on the glass and overflows. What's the best way to clean? Die grinder and a scotchbrite or would that scratch it (it's glass)? Looks like it's been caked on for a year+.
That's what I first thought, but now I figure some of those things really won't be that usefull to me. Like do I really need a red alarm light etc? I dunno. Some of these mfgs seem like they just throw a bunch of different combinations together but don't really educate folks on the differences...
I'd have to agree. They seem so similiar.... Looks like the basic Typhoon3 would meet my needs and I think I should get the 75GPD membrane cause it's more efficient (is that correct?).
With the group buy through Air Water Ice underway, I'm trying to determine the best RO/DI system that would meet my needs. I'm upgrading my tank from a 14g to a 150g, so my needs are increasing as well. ;D
The two systems I'm considering are the Extreme Typhoon3 and theTyphoon5.
Up till now...
Yes, I use a refractometer and the level was equal to the water in the tank (both 1.023). I calibrated it about 2 months ago, but I guess it's worth checking again. Thing is, that the water change was 5 days prior to this happening. Then again, maybe it got worse and worse. Man, it really stinks...
