When i had my 6 bulb 54w t5 setup i noticed that the glass tops took away some of the light, so i took them off an dleft them off and my tank looked a lot better

I have a 75gal and have 2 K3s, on one on each side, and they create a good amount of flow along with the 2 return lines from my sump.

Viper k2 lamps come in 75w, 150w, and 250w, just go onto marine depot and type in Viper K2 and they will all come up.

Ive never used the seachem reef salt, ive been using reef crystals salt, and have had no problems, and for a 160gal bucket its about $45.

Are you using chaeto? also, you can get a Kent Marine Reactor(40bucks) and put the Kent Nitrate Sponge filter media in that. and as far as the tds meter, you can get the tester, or you can get the monitor that attaches to the ro and monitors the water quality.

I believe a refugium is a must to help maintain a healthy tank. is it possible for you to still use your current sump and add a refugium section in it or theres not enough room?

It depends on the LFS, but most give you some type of store credit, so id call around and see who will gice you the most credit.

Sharks are not reef safe, and there was a fish store that had a 265gallon reef tank, and they put a shark in the reef tank and went on vacation for a week, and they came back to a fish only tank...minus a few fish. Needless to say, that store ended up going out of business at the end of last...

I switched over to all the Brightwell Products (calcium,magnesium,alk,amino,reefbuilder) and have had great results, as my tnak is doing great and am having great growth in my tank. Would highly recommend all of brightwells prodcuts.

No question is a dumb question here, but as the others have stated, I would also leave it alone, you dont want the chaeto to go into your pipes and disturb your flow of water that could potentially lead to a problem.
