My Solaris does great for some corals and not so great for others.

I am really sorry about what happened. I have been learning my own share of mistakes in this hobby and there are a lot to be learned! BUT, I love your diagram!

Thanks for everyone's advice. He is now gone. I was thinking about puttin ghim in the sump but I put fish in there from time to time as a holding spot if they are "bad" in the display and I did not want them to get taken by him!

I just found him tonight and grabbed him. His leggs are hairy if that helps with the ID. Should I keep him or toss him?

I may take you up on that one! I have been having issues with testing my nitrates today. I can't seem to get a reliable test from all 3 of my systems! I am going to get some new tests this weekend.

I was told that even dry rock must cure. After that i would guess it would be fine.

I am not sure if it is actually the "brightness" of the lights that burns the corals. I think it may be that the solaris is more directional instead of spread out and then more intense on the corals.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there is one type of fish you would NEVER want to try and catch it would be a HIPPO TANG! They are TRICKY and can hide in some GREAT spots! I spent all day trying to get these 2 guys out and when the fiance came home she helped and we finally got both of them...

I dim my whites and atinics to 50% when I add a new coral and move it up 5% each week.

I do it with T5 and keep everything under it. It just depends on the hight you put certain corals in the tank.

I actually found out that caps don't like that much light.

In the first pic it looks like it was starting to bleach. is that the case or just the way the picture is coming out?

I have heard of people doing this with larger tanks and it worked fine for them.

So the adapter that I used on my RO unit is leaking really bad so I found a new one online and it is Polypropylene. Is that material ok to use? The only ones I could find at Lowes and Home Depot was brass and even online I could not find another nylon one like the one that came with the unit.

I have a couple Aqua Clears but I would not recomend them becuase they kill fish.

What??????? The guy that owns My Reef Creations? Is that who that is? DAMN! That is the skimmer I use and like. Now I have to find a new skimmer to use for my next system and if something happens to this one I am screwed?!

I use T5 on 1/2 of my 240 gallon and I love them.

I tried feeding a lot today and they still did it. I fed mysis in the morning, pellets and nori in the afternoon and they go at it all like mad and they still pick at the corals! I guess they just got a taste for it now.........
