I turn off the filter and let the power head disperse them all around. To me the ponies like to hunt them down. That being said ding maintenance the water and substrate get very dirty. I am considering some sort of feeding station to limit waste.

The tank is drilled for closed loop, 2 holes at top and 4 towards the bottom so on back glass. So guess the easiest thing is to get one sump to house everything. Thanks all, was just a thought

Sorry to hear that. I was using a DIY Alk doser, gravity drip. I prepared Randy Holmes Alk formula and would dose 10ml weekly and Alk was 9 or 10. I switched to the drip method and it snuck up, my Alk was over 20. I prepared the same way as usual so either the batch of baking soda was different...
