You found the only real issue with high calcium, it will push down alk. I would not do anything to lower it, let it lower itself slowly.

500 gph after head loss and overflow only handles 200gph equals an overflowing tank.... you want the gph of the pump after head loss to be 200gph

To start the mag 7 will overpower that overflow big time. That overflow can only handle 200gph constantly. So a mag 3 Would be a better fit.
