    Diy fish traps

I built one out of egg crate. A slender box with an opening small enough that bigger fish can't get in. Then I put a half wall, sort of like a maze. Then I used a T off the egg crate to tie food to. Tie a string and wait. It works but takes time. My family always laughs at me when I break it out.

This lady in NJ needs help...(as in psychiatric)

Good point. The FL news is just as bad, worse in my opinion. Let's not forget the South Park episode where NJ tries to take over the other states to make one big NJ. Our press will always be bad.

    Toro Lawnmower...self-propelled is amazing!!! lol

Three years ago I picked up a Honda mower 3 speed and mulcher at a garage sale for $10. It stalled out and ran rough. I took it a guy in town that fixes them. Needed a carburetor and $30 later up and running. Total $40 and still runs but will probably get a new one this year as it tends to over...

    Sand detritus question

After removing the hair algae manually about 2 weeks ago my Nitrates test at 40ppm as of today. I just did a 10g water change sucking out dirt and sand. My house stinks from this stuff. I will need to remove the sand bed for sure now.

Convince me to get rid of my "Nippin'" Flame Angel...please

I believe the answer to your question is yes. They are not reef safe and some maybe okay others not. So its or miss. I have one and after observing my frogspawn disappearing I assume dit was my clowns nestiing. Now my large hammer lost 2 heads and I have seen the flame hanging around it.

You can probably set up without pods to get the phyto going first and add pods later.

    Epoxy putty and skimmer craziness

I would turn it off for a day and start it backup. I find it hard to believe you have to do a water change after using a bit of putty. How much did you use by the way?

    Sand detritus question

I will take some blame here too. I didn't mean to imply Nikki or anyone was wrong either just if you ask 10 people you get 10 different opinions. Steve, thanks for the offer; if I need it will give you shout.

    Sand detritus question

I am not saying Nikki is wrong. Just what discussion took place. I can't make large quantities of water so will do the best I can. If the small changes start to kick up to much dirt floating in the water column then obviously I will stop immediately and regroup.

    Sand detritus question

Nikki, funny you said that as there were some opinions at the meeting whether to do it slowly or all at once. Majority rule was to do slowly. I don't plan to stir up the sand bed. Sick a good size hose into the sand and suck it out. Most of the dirt will get sucked along. Your comments on a tank...

    Sand detritus question

Steve, I have seen that article, thanks. From what I was told is that all the dirt in my sand probably contributing to phosphate, nitrate and HA. It was suggested to remove the sand slowly not to disrupt the bio-load. Once I have all the sand out then concentrate on water changes.
