Jon,
I dedicated it about 2 weeks ago, I just got a chance today and figure out what it was and I replaced the return pump earlier today.
I pulled the two pieces out to check them and it seemed like some red/brown algae was on them. I took a toothbrush an gently scrubbed them. I placed the...
I have some cheato and there use to be cualerpo. I never had luck growing this stuff to be honest. It just lives.
My zoas and softies look great. Even my pagoda cup. I never could keep SPS. If you checkout the LPS SPS forum you will pics
of my brain and yellow scroll corals which don't look good.
Steve, Yes it is odd. I have an Aquamedic turbo multi. It is a HOB but Aquamedic told me I can use in sump. I feed rather light I think. I use flakes one day and the next gel packs. I feed 1 gel pack of seaweed or cyclopeze daily through out the day.
Fish:
1 - Large Hippo tang
2 - PG cardinals...
I have this beautiful brain and yellow scroll coral I got from TGEE but they are not looking well the past day or two. I assumed it was from the stray voltage which is now addressed. Any help appreciated. See below for params and pics.
Nitrate - 80, could be i disturbed the sump when replacing...
After this voltage leak something told me to test the water because my brain and scroll didn't seem well this morning. Here are my params for the test kits I currently have:
Nitrate - 80
Alk - 7.84
PH - 8.1
Cal - 440
Ammonia - 0
Not sure why Nitrates spiked. I am guessing the disruption of the...
I located an old Mag7 pump. I cleaned it up and used it. The DT and sump read 2.7 on the meter. The arm test also had no shock.
I will need another pump as this is old and needs to be kicked started when stopped.
Also, I assume the only think I can keep from the bad pump is the impeller. As I...
Paul, I was confused as well because each time I tested I was getting a different reading. I assume the meter wire were touching other wires and I was not able to see that easily. So I got a heavy duty extension cord and plugged it into the outlet on the other wall. I retested and this time came...
It appears I have two problems. The reactor pump and my ATO. I have a few pumps for the reactor but guess I am screwed on the ATO. So these are unplugged for now and DT is reading 0 along with sump. I will top off manually until I can replace the ATO.
I plugged each unit in one at a time and unplugged them one at a time. I also used the ground plug in the power strip as it was easier to perform this test.
It seems my pump for the reactors is the culprit. I have unplugged it now but for get to do a DT test after all equipment was plugged back...
I just unplugged the other power strip and the meter read 25. So I guess this means the equipment on this strip is the issue. This sucks because this strip has my return pump, skimmer pump and pump for my GFO / Carbon reactor. I will have to unplug each one and see what the meter reads.
Thanks...
I wrote several letters complaining about the store in Old Bridge and the corporate reply was BULL. I wrote back stating I have all these different animals and shop there weekly and if they don't fix the SW problems I will stop shopping. They never replied back and I don't shop there anymore.
To narrow down a bit I unplugged on of the power strips from the outlet. I placed the red wire in the tank and put the black in the ground. I set the meter to AC200 and it fluctuated between 0 and 1, then stayed at 0. Can I assume the equipment on this strip is not the issue?
The nitrate always ran high 40ppm and was hard to lower. Best I ever did was 20ppm but only was and awhile. My coral seem much happier now. Not sure if its the lower nitrates or something else the vinegar is doing. I run a GFO reactor and have not test kits for PO4.
