Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
i think given the fact that so many stores frag and sell them to each other - we're lucky it's just valonia/bubble algae. the store on route 22 has got a ton of it in some of their frag tanks.
I introduced it from a different seller who at the time was giving away the coral. I should've known...
i use two of them. You can order them from amazon.com. I got mine from a local DJ supplier in Long Island (i had a coupon).

This is the type I got:
they are a real nuisance. Not so much that they aren't reef safe - it's just that they can proliferate if you tend to feed heavy or skim light.
if you find something that works - please post back. I'd be interested.
signed (tired of scraping them off with pliers/scrappers/screw drivers) (and...
fake....it was posted here previously. It's an ad for Microsoft Project. Talk about a viral commercial. Still given all the crazy people I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the darwin awards go to someone who tried this at home.
joltin joe has left and gone away...hey hey hey.
that is a really cool pond. How long did it take to put that all together? Seems like a lot of care/maintenance.
My favorite article on the cuke nuke legend. Not to say it has not happened - but it's like saying all bristle worms eat coral. Yes there is a fire worm that does it. But is it all over? Hardly.

A firefish is a nice peaceful fish. A helfrichi firefish is a gorgeous but $$$ peaceful fish.
I'm not familiar with the 3 gobies but if I recall - they are really small and the inclusion of the larger fish (first) may result in the larger fish identifying the gobies as meals. So definitely...
i'm excited about your getting the rotifiers...let us know how that works out.
fyi - i don't have an anemone in my tank. Though I imagine an anemone would help since it would prevent any other fish in the tank from wandering too close.
per joyce:
set up a 10 gallon tank but only use 3 gallons of water in it. This will help to ensure the larvae eat.
Make sure the tank seams are good. Apparently the larvae are so small they can get stuck in a seam and die.
Cover the tank and do not let any light in except from the top. Cover...
The eggs will hatch at first dusk on the 7th or 8th night if your lighting is mimicking a typical day/night schedule.
If you are unable to move the clowns/eggs from the display - then you could try and siphon them as they hatch (if you are willing to wait and watch). Do a slow slow siphon...
i have the same thing - they appear to be a parasite on snails. My maxima clam is fine - I was a freak watching it every night the first 2 weeks i put the clam in. It's been growing now for the past 7 months.
I went snail less in my tank for 4 weeks (when I first intro'd the LR) and noticed two...
we're volunteers...if you were a part of the club - you could voice your suggestion in a meeting and maybe we'll implement it.
First event coming up to mention would be in Atlantic city on sept 25th...
quick update -
The female perc that has laid eggs twice - propelled itself out of the tank (no cover) on Friday. We heard her flapping on the floor. I put her back in and thought she was going to die. An hour later she was back by her "nest" and being guarded by the male.
Today she laid eggs...
