Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I know some of my fish will get sand stuck to them once in awhile, sort of looks like ich. But it usually falls off in a few hours or so.
Was your tank subjected to any temperature swings? If so, that could cause the Hippo to get ich. They are very prone to it.

Your Phosphates are high and you shouldn't be showing ANY ammonia. Sounds like your tank is still cycling to me.. You must have some kind of die off in the tank if it's been 3 months and you still have an ammo reading. Your PH is a bit on the high side as well. Should be around 8.2

I would use a Maxi Jet. IMO they are one of the more reliable powerheads. They have a strainer that isn't too horrible looking. I would think that would help with anemones getting sucked in. Another idea would be to not use the powerhead until the anemone settles in.

The cycling process can take months and months... The faster you try to do anything, the longer it is going to take...
Have you done any water testing? I would post the results here this way we can better diagnose your problem.
FWIW I had a tank that looked like total garbage for about 6...
Deb and I will be there...probably bringing clam dip and beer..
Cannonball contests anyone? Maybe we can give a frag to the person that drains the most water out of the pool! :P
And what was in those cups/bags you ask?

Hopefully it's ok.. We are going to need to cook the clam dip at your place... It takes a 1/2 hour in the oven... We didn't want to cook it and have it sit in the car....yuck! :o
See you soon!
Since you are new to corals I would stick with some easier things...
Mushrooms, Green Star Polyps, Certain Leathers... Stay with softies in the beginning.. That's how I got started...IMHO they are much easier to care for, they don't need the addition of calcium and are pretty forgiving as long...
I used to live in Port Reading... and USED to go to Animals and things quite a bit..
There is one thing that I have learned..
STAY AWAY FROM ANIMALS AND THINGS. :o
You will be glad you did :D Trust me.
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of choices in the Woodbridge area for saltwater.
If...
Your best bet would be to put the power head on the opposite side of the tank.. then have both of them point towards the center of the tank. This way you will get a nice mixing flow of water.
Damn...I thought that was a solenoid....So I would need to buy a solenoid to make that one (from the link) work at it's full potential?
I havent purchased anything yet....this for a future project.
Okay...
So if I bought that Double Switch Sump mount shown here:
http://www.autotopoff.com/products/DS1/index.htm
That comes with a solenoid....what else would I need to complete that setup?
The solenoid thing is totally new to me....I understand what it does...but not sure how to implement it.
