Sounds like bristleworms. You will hear many different theories on them. I find them to be helpful and have never had a problem with them. They eat detritus and help keep your rockwork clean. Other will say they eat fish or corals... If you do a search on RC for "bristleworms" it will yield a...

Here's a question.. If I used one of those 55 gallon barrels that we all love... Drilled a little hole near the bottom of it, ran some RO tubing out of it.... then drilled a little hole in my sump and hooked up a float valve (like the ones from AWI) Obviously the drum would be sitting...

Whoa! :o That is really scary! Good thing that your kids have a good head on thier shoulders and didn't lose thier cool in an emergency. I'm glad to hear everything/everyone is ok. I would definitely replace the pump...why take the chance that something could happen again.

I used a rustoleum paint (flat black). The kind that you roll on, not spraypaint. I took about 4 coats but came out great.

Well.. When my tank was running, I barely checked anything, had the PH monitor going...so that was an easy check.... lol Water changes? maybe once every three months. I think I didn't test because I was afraid of the results! :o On my new tank I will be testing in the beginning atleast...

I have Milwaukee PH Monitor/Controller. I knew I would get a Calcium Reactor eventually...so I just went ahead and got the Controller as well.
