    Drip acclimation -- a discussion

I have in the past used a lugols bath and a FWE bath. But I think I've read people use different techniques depending on the coral (e.g. zoa versus sps).

Avoid linkias/fromias - your tank is too small to properly care for a starfish. They are notorious for being delicate shippers and require a lot of LR and preferably a mature tank. A serpent star or brittle star would be a great choice though. I had a red and green one (not the fish eater) and...

yep - it's helpful to reduce nitrates. You'll need a feeder pump for it - I don't know if the salesperson sold you a pump also at trop.

    onefish2fish's 46gallon bowfront

looks nice. The whites stuff - don't know what that is - might have been a sponge or tunicate but whatever it is - looks bleached/dead. Btw - all of my blue-leg hermits in my old 55 hated the "top hat" homes they had but they all LOVED cerith shells. So uh---if you suddenly find your cerith...

    Overflow question?

lol...I just posted the same response about the calfo overflow, then read this thread. If you are handy and can make it - I think that solution is ideal. Anyways - I agree with matt! ;D

No overflow box... What should I do??

try googling the "calfo overflow" - I think that technique is ideal if I were to custom diy build an overflow.

    Remote Deep Sand Beds

you "would" or would NOT...I think you're saying "not" right? I believe you'd simply bulkhead the top of the bucket. The water would travel slowly across the top of the sandbed. This would then allow the anaerobic bacteria to build in the bottom of the bucket. This is one of eric borneman's...

    ETSS skimmer question??

ouch - sorry to hear that. Is it possible to ask for your money back - for all you know it was broken before it was even mailed? I guess glue might work - but saltwater is corrosive and I don't know how long that would work.

as long as the 10 gallon was never used with chemicals or treatment for any disease before. Like Copper (Copper will kill your inverts). I've drip acclimated an entire clean up crew before. Ideally you'd have a drip for each bag. It's what - a few bucks for airline tubing?

    Lots of miniature starfish

lol - perhaps I should have elaborated. First of all - disclaimer - I am not stating this representing njrc, the officers, mods ;) My opinion only. you have a simple choice. You could do your research on wetwebmedia, reefkeeping.com or even searching thru other forums (without being spammed...

    Tang stocking suggestion.

First of all - having a QT is great. a lot of people skip this step because they deem it "expensive"...which makes no sense when you consider how much money is being invested in the display. obviously the bigger the better. Personally I think the 24 should be fine.

Useless and marginal products I have purchased over the years

The Hang on the Back Refugiums. First off - maintenance is a huge pita. Second of all - the amount of "refuge" is limited and by it's design - not optimal (small surface area). Save your money and use it to set up a under the tank sump with a fug. Finally - in my opinion the fug should be...

    Help with aquascaping

in my opinion - even the "best" architect is going to have a tough time 'scaping a 55. At 13inches front to back depth - you just are going to have to compromise on certain areas. Do you have a sump? I'd see about moving the big piece down into the sump if you find it awkward to aquascape.
