    180g In-Wall Reef

nice...i think the best of the two worlds would be getting that kind of coralline covered tbs LR and using it to seed the marco rocks I keep hearing about. I am not positive on the orange coral - so check with richard - maybe he'll know.

yep - there was a rumor they renamed it. I call it collusion with the LFS stores! lol.

    Critter bugs eating zoa's

I have a lot of amphidpods and my zoa colony is still growing rapidly. Hardly scientific evidence but either my colony is being eaten but at a rate too small to impact the growth, or amphipods do not eat zoas. Maybe mine are high class diners and don't care for the cheap zoas that no one has a...

    180g In-Wall Reef

nice update! I could be wrong but I think richard suggests keeping the orange coral in a darker part of the tank. I guess it's too late but it is tough to keep all the stuff alive from TBS. How's the cleanup crew? Did richard also give an extra sand cuke?

Harry - you're not wrong...actually in the wild clowns may exist in a pair or in a group. The two adults rule while the rest are "sub-adults". Keep in mind in the wild percs typically roost in Heteractis magnifica and Stichodactyla gigantea, - both of which grow really big and can easily...

    clams and anemone safe together?

In my opinion, if an anemone were to park itself next to a clam, then the clam could never extend it's mantel fully and thereby possibly die from lack of nutrition...plus the fact that the whole idea behind a clam is to look at the beautiful patterns on the mantel. not a big deal since most of...

    hello question vermetid

vermetids are pretty adaptive and from everything I've read - rather innocuous. I'm pretty sure my astereas have vermitids on their shell. It's a little ugly - but they don't seem to harm the invert, or my other corals for that matter. Was thinking more along the lines of water chemistry...

Such thing as too much phosphate removal?

The coco-puffs (great description by the way) - they are there for the bacteria to colonize and grow. However - I'm not sure you need them if you have enough LR. Only concern I have is that if it gets dirty in there, it will add to the nutrients left to decay which will result in algae issues...

    Flow

My calculations on that tank show: 6301x2 = 15850 gph 6201x2 = 10566 gph 6212x4 = 1268 gph Divided by the display of 308 = 89x I'm not factoring in the return, but I am also over calculating the tunze, since he has the multicontroller, and most folks do the 30%/100% switch or similar. So they...

    Anemone suggestions to host clowns

I will post up a pic if that will help my 2 year old...but I think that will just gross out everyone else lol. I see enough in the diapers already thank you. On the anemone question - I would answer by elminating one choice - which is don't try a condylactis...even though LFS continue to retail...

sorry to hear about this...did you dip your zoa before introducing into the display? It's possible something hitched in accidentally.

    clams and anemone safe together?

I'd imagine if the clams were of sand-dwelling species, and the anemone were of the LR dwelling -(or vice versa) the chances of accidental stinging would be reduced. personally i wouldn't keep the two together-but that's just my preference...like some ppl prefer bare bottom vs. sand kinda thing.

    ummm. euphylillia species...

my first coral purchase were a hammer and froggie...they came in a bucket from another ny reefer...and they were touching in my tank -no issues. Can't say for a torch as my husbandry skills with them is just pathetic. ::) Have you read Bax's tale of the tank- he has a video of his huge...

mike - I just read this article...interesting (but long read). If you want to jump to the conclusion it's this: I agree with the broad recommendations of Terry Bartelme: reduce stress, improve nutritional regime, add vitamins and HUFA supplements to the diet, enhance water quality and also try...
