    Sponge Question

ball sponges die very quickly via the exposure to air method. You sure it's a sponge? Maybe a pic? Couldn't you physically use some tweezers or something?

    Red Flatworms

In addition to the prior posts - just wanted to say that for future purchases - might want to consider setting up a small QT - it doesn't have to be very large, just something large enough to temporarily hold your purchases so you can closely monitor for disease or bad hitchers. Good luck!

    BlueZoo Aquatics

Hey - there - unfortunately this is not a post from first-hand experience - so feel free to vet it... Anyways - a ManattanReefs member posted a small group buy for this online company and had a very bad experience - much of the livestock was DOA in under 8 hrs of delivery. Not sure if it's just...

    Starphire glass

matt - interesting - did not know that. Why would a zoo be using starphire glass if it were softer? Seems like security would be a hugh risk - and it'd stink if the animals scratched up the glass. Then again its possible they have it for just fo tanks...anyways - interesting. liger- also note...

    upgrade

A 55 is 48 long by 13 front to back, by 20 or something or other high - I forget, but height isn't the restraining factor in your question. The biggest in my opinion would be a 120, it is 48 by 24 by 24. I haven't stocked by 120 yet but there are quite a few folks who have 120s that can chime...

    Starphire glass

liger - i really doubt that remark. Starphire is used in a lot of different settings besides consumer fish tanks (aquariums, zoos) and I doubt they'd be using them in if they scratch as easily as acrylic. Link to the manufacturer -...

    Coraline Growth

in my opinion - not a whole lot. Introduction of LR and/or frags with some coraline - and the tank will eventually just take off. It's one of those "patience is a virtue" kind of things. No need for additives or anything - just maintain the appropriate balance for seawater and you should be good...

    My 33g Ric Cube

Really great looking tank - and I really think the stand/canopy looks superb. I didn't even notice the grain or the screw holes until you mentioned it. Even then you can hardly tell...I mean the rics are a real beauty. I was in melville on friday - and had the unfortunate circumstance of being...

    Fish trap needed

have you tried supplementing the tangs diet with nori - was thinking maybe it would rather not bug the toad stool if it had additional algae to feast on. Maybe try a clip in the morning and at dusk?

    Anyone here ever use....

Eh - the product may be suspect, but I've been to the LFS and it's actually not bad. I haven't been there though in 2 years so I don't want to post a review - but the retail store is really big, warehouse like with a decent saltwater section. The folks from the LIRA club could probably talk more...

Infamous Movie & TV Lines... Guess and win the pickle

Braveheart/Gladitator - bloody bloody movies...though not as messy as Akira kurosawa's Ran. But that movie is not for everyone - not everyone likes to read subtitles for 2 plus hours. Another easy one...since NO one wanted to actually respond to the Dr. No quote...lol. "Stay on target!"...

    Palytoxin and EMS

wouldn't you have to take the coral and rub it into an open wound? I mean, I wouldn't even do that with non-toxic critters... Regardless I always wear gloves...never know what one can be allergic to.

    My clowns are finally hosting.

I imagine it would depend on the species of clown and the type of anemone...in particular I think it different when you are talking about clowns born in captivity...where all they have ever seen is a powerhead. The nemo (I mean percula) I purchased was a little tiny guy and was in love with the...

    zoa eater??

actually - is that even a worm? First thing that crossed my mind was a zoa /polyp eating nudibranch. By the way - doing a search on other possibilities - I don't think you have "spiders" - but the suggested solution was a lugols dip. I dunno about purchasing a fish to help...I think given the...

    Tonga versus Fiji rock

mike - if you put the uncured lr directly into the tank - wouldn't it create a very big nasty smell? or would you be changing the water frequently (may prolong the cycle but reduce the smell at least)? Just wondering whether it is more beneficial to just put the uncured rock into a tub and...

    zoa eater??

dunno what that is - but based on what you stated - it's definitely very suspect!

    Backup Power

wouldn't you really want to maximize the flow rate while using the least amount of power? So Id imagine a tank could survive a few hours without lights or a skimmer, but would be dead without any powerheads pushing the water. So if they were 3 tunze 6060s, at 11watts each, then you'd need...

    red slime remover

Steve - I read up some more on this topic...so what I am sharing is pure "hearsay" since I didn't experience it firsthand... Warning #1 - the usage of the product may kill the nitrifying bacteria in the tank ...which may result in an ammonia spike thereby causing great discomfort for tank in...
