Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I finally got back to doing a little more work on the stand. Attached the sides and cut out the excess plywood. The way I did this was to first glue and nail (1” wire brads) one side to the carcass. From the inside, I then drilled four holes, one hole in each corner of the opening. This...
My first though was as others have suggested….paint it black. However, with a tad bit more thought, it being a peninsula, it’s got to go! Ligershark has nicely outlined how to go about doing it, but I’m not convinced you need to change the bulkheads. I’d leave whatever you have (probably...
Don, I’m loving it! I also like the toilet trick.
Being of Irish heritage we use to do similar “green” things for the kids when they were young. They would expect it on Saint Patrick’s Day, and run around the house until they could find the items that the leprechaun had turned green. I...
Welcome Joey. Looks like a great start. I'm also a 90 galloner....with a 40B sump.
Where are you located?

For RC, it takes ca 3 cups per five gallons to get to 1.026. Maybe it is all the clay fillers and vitamins! And I can assure you that the refractometer is properly calibrated.
Thanks for the heads-up on strontium and iodine.
Picked up my 300 pounds of salt today. Thanks again to AO and James (and Darren for agreeing to my little outlandish, harebrained request.) These 300 pounds are two boxes of RC and three boxes of IO. I’m going to slowly switch to IO.
I change 15 gallons a week, which takes a...
Sunny, I thought I’d post this up here in case anyone wanted to chime in with comments. The plan it to add two support columns (jack posts) to triple beams that will span two wood I-beam joists. The new tank will be just above, parallel to the joists.
Now I checked out the posts at HD and...
So I have three MP40’s …….. $465 X 3 = $1395. So I could have purchased three of these for $255 and saved $1140! Damn I’m a fool.
And they do look like Tunze’s.
Ditto Blue Velvet Damn-sel. That beautiful fish killed two of the fish I had and was eventually put into the witness protection program in an aggressive fish tank (to remain unnamed.) Brian, hows that fish doing......kill anyone lately?
Looks like aptasia to me.
PART 2: getting rid of them. A pretty good non-chemical way is to fill a coffee cup with RO/DI.....nuke it to a boil.....use a turkey baster or good size syringe (10ml) to "cook" the little basta$%!ds.
