Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

Those studs are easily removed by opening the case and taking off the 10mm nut. This can be replaced by a longer bolt (either metric (6mm) or “American” ¼ inch) and then use a spacer. Here’s an example with a carriage bolt (FYI, I wouldn’t use a carriage bolt…just for example), and a short...

In this hobby, I’d never say you couldn’t do something, because you’ll eventually find someone who is doing it. However, it would never cross my mind to consider using a needle wheel pump to move water. They were designed to highly agitate an air/water mixture to produce tiny bubbles (Mental...

Brandon, don’t know how much salt you will need to make up each week, but 238 gph is spitting into the wind. Post up a WTB for an older Koralia 3 or 4…..you could probably pick one up for $20. Now we’re talking moving a bit more water. The more movement the better. A K3 or K4 would work...

Brandon, convert liters to gallons by dividing by 3.785. You have about 238 gallons per hour.

    FOWLR Salt?

I even think IO has alk and calc that you don’t need. I can’t remember the brand, but it’s the largest volume of salt they have at the Hidden Reef …..do I hear “road trip.” I think it’s twenty-something for a 160 gallon bucket. It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but if interested...

Apollo Reef LED's... anyone have them?

Mike, if yours are coming from their PA facility, and they are not back-ordered, they should be there in two days. That’s how long mine took….and Apollo exclusively uses FedEx. The hanging hardware is the typical adjustable cable system that attaches to your fixtures with 6mm stud ends on the...

    Your favorite saltmix?

To specifically answer the OP's title, my favorite saltmix is a coarse grained rimming salt, with a tinge of lime flavoring. I’ll sip on this while I’m mixing up my Reef Crystals.

    Glass-Holes Maintenance

Don, up until the gurgling started, the tubes where never touched. They were just jammed into their holes from day one, and that was it. One was more than halfway into the hole, the other was maybe only ¼ into the hole. That’s just the way they were first installed.....no thought given to...

    Glass-Holes Maintenance

That tubing is part of the Glass-Holes overflow. It came with the kit. It’s ¼ inch ID, 3/8 OD tubing that is about eleven or so inches long, with one end cut at an angle. That angle cut makes it easy to install the tube in the hole in the elbow. I’d check the tubing section of HD or Lowes...

    Glass-Holes Maintenance

Unless you are doing this frequently, I’m not sure a pipe cleaner would do the trick. I had to give this ramrod a pretty strong plunge to knock out the blockages. I would think a metal coat hanger that was cut and straighten would also do the trick.

    Glass-Holes Maintenance

I’ve been playing with my Glass-Holes overflow for the past month or so, because it’s been gurgling. I’ve moved the hoses in the elbows up and down, cleaned out the box, inside and out, changed the way it enters my sump, and I still get the gurgle. Tonight, a little light bulb went off in...

    Bye - Bye B-Ionic

Phil, educate me! Randy’s formula is just like B-Ionic, or any other two part system. You have an alkalinity part and a calcium part. Now he also has a recipe for making your own magnesium using Epsom salt and Mag Flakes. I’ve also made up this as well. I currently add two-part manually, every...
