The trap in the toilet is the smallest diameter. I can only guess that whatever went in is small enough to get past the trap, but heavy enough to rest in the 3” below. I have a conventional snake, but Sayreville to Toms River is a bit of a trip. I’m sure you’ll find someone closer. Best of luck.

I think you mean a snake. (EDIT TO ADD...my mistake, also called an auger. Sorry.) If a snake doesn't work, whatever fell in is most likely still within the trap/siphon portion of the toidy.  I'd empty the water, disconnect the water line (first turning off the water), and pop off the two nuts...
