Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Jason Fox Leptoseris has a very nice orange color. Many Zoas will give you nice colors of all kinds. Also Superman Monti, or Jason Fox Violet Orange will give you a very nice pink color.
I am not exactly sure what chemi pure blue is. It seems to be an enhanced version of activated carbon. It should not remove nutrient significantly so you can leave it in. I do not run activated carbon on a regular basis. Only occasionally to remove the yellow color from the water (like once...
You're running too many things in your tank so my first suggestion is to remove purigen, phosguard and chemipire. Actually none of them remove nitrate. Leave the tank alone for a few days then we can think about nutrient export.
If you have calibrated then your tank water is not 35ppt. It is close to 1.021 SG. Why bring your hydrometer into this? And how do you know the hydrometer is accurate?
Refractometers are low tech equipment and it's pretty hard to have a bad one. Make sure it's calibrated to 1.0264 and try to match that with your tank water. If you don't have calibration fluid just get a bottle of salt water from a fellow hobbyists. To increase salinity, add some salt water and...
If you're trying to strip your water of PO4 thus stopping the growth of cyano, your corals will suffer first. So it's not a good strategy.
A proven strategy is to keep the nutrient levels, NO3 and PO4 at around the redfield ratio, about 1ppm and 0.03ppm.
As for your cyano outbreak, use chemi...
I think one prerequisite for keep these type of creatures is the ability to culture photo, pods and mysid shrimps. Mysid shrimp is like 20 cents each you know how small it is...
Yeah my potassium number is pretty solid :) @saltkreep88 I too was hoping something was wrong with the level so I could fix it.
My red is actually pretty good right now. But green is not dark enough but then again I have nothing to compare to. The green slimer is yellowish so is the paletta...
Congrats on the big upgrade. Looking forward to seeing it in action.
Rough estimates it's about 500g. I will generally shoot for 3-5 times turn over which means 1500-2500gph for your tank. An 1.5" full siphon should handle it easily.
As for overflow boxes current trend is to have a very slim...
