Maybe your tank is still new and going thru every algae species like mine did. From my planted tank days I learned algae come because of chemical imbalance and may or may not due to the nutrient levels. (there is actually a method to overdose nutrients to prevent algae growth in planted world.)...
Here's a couple of shots of the angelfish tank. The multibar didn't cooperate but the rock beauty is oblivious to the camera. The RBTA from @mrehfeld is incredible and after walking around for weeks finally found the spot it likes.
You see a glimpse of the multibar behind the rocks in the...
Today I went to Sandy Hook to take a walk with wife and more important, collect some wild stuff from the ocean after inspired by @Paul B. The place is really beautiful when the crowd is not there and there are a lot of interesting things to look like. I collected some rocks covered with algae...
That nem is a beauty. I wish I have the tank for it.
As for the light I consider it overpriced for something that's already a few years old and a few generations back. You might be inherit other people's problems. Depending what corals you plan to keep, I like the following:
1. for cheap - 2...
It's easy to verify. Use a multimeter to check if there is voltage out of the power supply. Multimeter is cheap and you can use it for other things. I have a Chinese LED you can borrow. You can also borrow my multimeter.
I have some. This is the stuff from ACC, 3mm. Very nice size sand that won't blow around. With some shells mixed in. Just light rinse. $1 lb I have about 25lbs left.
If it's diatom on the glass could it be PO4 issue? And the acro browning might be nutrient related as well. Nice setup. The polyps looking great. I notice you have them higher up in the tank instead of on the bottom.
DSA I think it's gone. Most of the custom shops will be 4k+ for a tank of your size, not even including the stand. Stock tanks are a lot cheaper. 180g perfecto is probably the most versatile tank. Really depend on what you're looking for. From what you've written looks like you want a tank with...
haha I know what you're talking about. But it seems you have a pretty big budget after all if it's only half of it. C2C does make some fantastic setups that make the price justified. Same reason people drive BMW while a Honda will get you from A to B as well.
Great choice on the lighting...
Build your rockwork using epoxy etc then put it in your 90g for a couple of weeks. It's a smaller amount of rock so your 90 can handle it in the mean time you have the rock cured and populated with pods.
