Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
This makes sense. I bought a few Jebaos for about $75 each. Although all of them are still working the flow is reduced. The propeller look perfectly fine maybe it's a lubrication issue? I have a Gyre as well and it has worked well for me but it's only one year. I managed to break one blade maybe...
Paul - are you saying your wet side lasted 7 years? I am considering getting a Vortech but $75 wet side replacement is not too cool. The Gyre does come with a set of spare. I have quite a few Jebaos but it seems the flow is reduced as they age even after a fresh cleaning.
I bought two convicts two weeks ago and the bigger one has developed a darkened area at the belly. It looks like wrinkled skin. The other one does not have this problem. It eats great and appear to be gaining weight. The area has been expanding but seems to have stabilized in the last couple of...
I always thought switching lanes to allow other cars to enter is good driving etiquette. Changing lanes is not illegal as long as rules are followed. If I were you I would risk paying the court fee (which was $25 years ago when I went to court) to see what the judge has to say.
art - these are indeed great fish and the two like to hang out together. the only downside is you must feed them a ton of nori otherwise they perish. as you can see they're quite skinny now.
Took a video after I just released the two convicts into the tank. Took me 5 days to catch the scopas tang. It's a small fish but still fairly aggressive. The convicts on the other hand are completely docile. Just eat and eat like in the wild.
Wow the opening looks huge. Looking forward to seeing it's built.
I would start from scratch and sheet rock below the tank as well. Much cleaner look. Frame an opening above the tank for feeding etc ...
I meant you need to frame the opening like you would a window.
I see what you're saying about the leak I suspect mine leaks too albeit very slow. These are not supposed to be water tight but I never worried too much about it. Only when there's an outage for a long time the overflow box might...
I thought you might need to frame around the opening instead of having the frame hanging there. But I have not done this myself before. It just look unfinished to me.
Do not use silicone to stop the leak. The gasket should stop the leak. You might need a new gasket or it's not tightened enough...
Juan - I really like the rock work. Very natural with some nice caves.
On the other hand, are you doing anything different to address nutrient export this time? If not the algae will grow right back.
Welcome to the club.
+1 on a dwarf angel. If it nips it should be fairly easy to remove from a 40g. Melanuras is my favorite wrasse but it will eventually outgrow the tank. It will take a while though.
For algae control get a blenny and emerald crabs.
Overflow noise - reduce the flow rate. go...
