Long extension is usually from higher flow. They get massive in high flow areas.

It would be minimal but nothing to remove it so I guess it's possible it could stay. It is possible to back siphon with a doser but the ends should not be under water to avoid that.

Do you have a solenoid valve or a line break hooked up so water doesn't siphon back into your brute can?

Did you test your ro water with a tds meter?

They should store the schedule internally, AI lights like the hydra 26s which I run in my basement lose connection to my router all the time and stay on schedule. I ran a led 50 and never had thr issue with it not staying on schedule.
