Guys - I am doing some more work on my controller. I was wondering what options you, as a reefer, would look for in a controller if you were to purchase/build one?
nice looking system. I find it ironic that the founder created his controller (the apex) cause the current market units cost too much money and I am building mine cause the current market units cost too much money lol. Its nice that they added wifi to their
By what I can tell the Alk is at the bottom like @art13 said. This is one reason I use different graphs for each element I test for (so I can see the fine change in each). I agree with @redfishbluefish about checking your doser setting and making sure everything is working correctly.
FYI I live in an apartment and can't install my RO/DI unit. I hook it up to my sink each time I need to use it and then put it away when I am done. This might be a temp solution for you.
@Reefabout again thanks. Now my colors are ok but I do think they can be better. My nitrates are at 0 and my phosphate range between 0 and 0.2 I now have more research to do which makes this hobby great learning something new everyday.
I agree with @art13 in the long run getting an RO/DI unit is the better way to go. This is the unit I have which works great. I know there cheaper units out there - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-stage-value-plus-ro-di-system-75gpd-1.html
@Reefabout thanks for that information. That where I was confused cause I was under the impression that one should aim for 0 nitrates (but I did know nitrates are ok to have) so I was confused why people would add nitrates to their tanks.
@David I have an old Coralife 65g skimmer. I am missing some parts (like the line to hook the pump to the skimmer) which you should be able to pick up cheap at a hardware store. It worked ok in my sump but about 7 or 8 months ago I upgraded to an Reef Octopus 110SSS which is kicking butt but...
Ok guys the pump came in yesterday.
Here is a link to my unboxing video -
The next step is going to be to place the pump in water and play around with the settings.
Well maybe if I get off my lazy butt, put more time into my controller and get it to the point I would feel comfortable to send out beta I will let you guys know.
