I have agree with @iTzJu on this. Also note on the Rio pump. I have a Rio return pump now. It has been running 24/7 (basically only off when doing a water change) its a good pump but about 2 weeks ago when I went to power it back on after a water change I got nothing. I had to take the pump...
I was looking at the DCT6000 but it wasn't prime and they wanted over $100 for it even the DCT8000 was prime and cheaper than the 6000. I just figured the 8000 would had been too much for my tank
no not a bigger tank but I wish. Not sure if you heard me mention it at the meeting but I applied for a job in Colorado and I felt like I nailed the interview. I am just waiting to hear a response and if they offer it to me and the salary is where I need it to be I most likely be moving.
I agree it would look nicer. Also if I can use this pump (which I should be able to) to run my reactors plus be my return pump then I can pull my reactor pump off my controller and add this to it. I just don't know if I want to put the work into right now cause I have something in the works...
Well just ordered the DCT4000 - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SQX5CEW/ref=crt_ewc_img_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A7SIQ2Y2T11UM. I am liking the options with the DCT models. Might event pull out my hose line and use PVC pipe with a line for my reactors.
Jumping in late but I have 1 Kessil A360WE and two Kessil A150W Deep Ocean Blues on my 54g reef tank and my corals seem to be doing fine. I have a mix of SPS, LPS, and softies. My Blue Voodoo, monti caps, and polyps are doing the best.
I think this is one of those topics where I don't think you can really go wrong either way. You need to do the research and do what you believe is best for your tank

Agree @Paul B. The internet has become helpful but also hurtful. I always say that the internet gave everyone a voice and many of them should remain voiceless. Many people don't use common sense anymore and it kills so many things. People don't understand there many ways to do something and...
I have heard both sides and both sides sound good. The main reason I don't run one (and yes I have Tangs) is it will kill everything in the water which means even the good stuff.
@REEF DOCG yes I created this project. Its not as clean as the Apex but it is working. I keep adding to it each chance I get. There are different models of the Apex and I am not sure what comes with which model. My system (if you couldn't tell) is a Raspberry Pi that controls a 4 channel...
@REEF DOCG the apex system allows you to monitor and control equipment/settings in your tank. The issues with the apex is they are costly. I am working on building my own controller. Joys of DYI project | Page 2 | NJ Reef Club
