Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
John, it would be considerably cheaper if you bought the tank, and leave the little fancy guppy behind. I’ve found that they quickly outgrow the tank, and then become very demanding and hard to keep happy without dropping some major cash. And more important for you since you already have one...
I would not suggest sweating 1/4" tubing....you'll want to use a tubing union....looks like this:
Cut the tubing to eliminate the bent portion and install new tubing using these unions.
Turn off the water at the saddle valve. This stops all water from going to the refrigerator. With a towel, disconnect the bent copper tubing and replace it. You can use PE or PEX or copper as a replacement. You’ll have to buy new ferals as well. Wrapping it with Magic Wrap is not a fix.
I'm not quite sure what you're talking about...but you can buy 1/4 copper tubing. If you were closer, I'd give you some. However, what I recommend on an ice maker is to get rid of the copper and PE tubing and either use braided tubing (like this) or PEX (like this). Both of these are much...
+1….out of the tank if you can. What I did was minimize the cutting in the tank by cutting off all that I wanted to cut off in one big piece, and then cut up that big piece out of the tank, and now put the pieces in a bucket by itself. Leathers do put out “nasty’s” when cut. Oh, and I used...
I’m probably not going to help because of my warped sense of life, but this is the way I see it. Our tanks are like kids. If you were to sit down and figure out what it costs to have and raise a kid, you’d never, ever have kids. It’s cheaper to go buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini than to have...
I placed the order with Ecotech yesterday for a new Wet Frame. I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought they were out in California. The item was shipped from…..Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and is now in my local FedEx facility, planned to be delivered Monday. Wow! Was that quick!
Wow, that thing isn’t eating, it’s roaring. If I see this picture correctly, that is the biggest mouth I’ve seen on, what I believe is a Trachyphyllia. What are you feeding that guy to make him open wide. The best I see on my Trach are the polyps around the mouth to capture the food, but...
Dan, you made a couple zeros disappear!!! At this new dosing level of 0.5 to 0.6 mls per second, that puts your 336 seconds at 168 to 202 mls per day. That now sounds a bunch high (unless you’re heavy SPS and or have clams.)
Hold everything Dan. I just looked up the doser and I’m guessing THIS is the one you have. If that is the case, here’s what they say, “Flexible dosing speed, 4-Speed dosing speed adjustable (from 0.075 ml – 0.6 ml / sec.). Could adjust speed in manual mode and timer mode also. You could even...
OK….so let’s review the math. You run the calc pump for 28 seconds, 12 times a day, which equals 336 second. At a dose rate of 0.05 to 0.06 mls per second, this calculates out to approximately 17 to 20 mls per day. Now I don’t know your tank, but that seems a little low. As a point of...
Talk to me in volumes...I'm not familiar with your pumps. What does 28 seconds mean in volume? And every other hour....does this mean you dose 12 times a day...or 12 x 28 seconds = 336 seconds = 5 minutes and 36 seconds? And one more bit of info....what size tank?
David, if I’ve been sarcastic, I do apologize. I’ve always thought that some of my posts have been witty and humorous. Oh wait…..that is sarcasm!!! Oh well, that’s just me!
However, I didn’t see any sarcasm in this thread….just a dumb old guy who didn’t know how to use a computer. Oh...
So folks are pointing fingers at your increased water changes. Hmmmmmmmmm! Increased water changes will drop nutrient levels, which could lead to bubble algae starting to croak. That’s possible…but the corals now turning for the worse???
Out of curiosity, what salt are you using?
Holy crap! I don’t know if I’m coming or going. This reminds me of the tongue twister in The Court Jester movie, where Danny Kaye’s line is “The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!” But then the chalice from the...
