Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I'd stay away from local snails. A fellow member harvested some local snails and ended up having multiple skin reactions, some of which put him in the hospital. It took some time, but eventually figured out the snails contained the parasites that cause swimmers itch.
It is just me and my phobias, or is anyone else concerned about introducing unwanted parasites/bacteria/badassstuff into their tanks from wild caught stuff?
The water should be just fine, assuming the pump actually didn’t blow out it’s oil…and that would be obvious.
Electricity is long gone! (That assumes it's unplugged. )
Just cut off a piece. I then stick a toothpick through the leather and now tie it to a small rock or frag plug using thin string. Some use a rubber band, but if the tension is not just right, it rips the leather. It takes about a week for the leather to attach.
Oh, one more thing...no...
Trimming plants cuts off the apical meristem (the end of the plant), that otherwise inhibits lateral plant growth. You don’t have this mechanism with corals. They are individual animals in a colony.
However, that being said, fragging some corals will cause for branching, and I’ve also read...
This was originally put into “Don’t Break the Chain” by Sunny (Monroereef) and I now have gone with two BRS dosing pumps to dose two-part. So it’s back in the mix for free. HERE’s the link to info about TM Bio-Calcium. Here’s what Sunny originally posted, with the exception that PU is in...
Yep! November. Past two years it has been in the Trenton area. Looking for a new venue, but still central Jersey area.
HERE's the announcement to last years.
If I remember correctly, senility rules!
I can’t remember what I had for breakfast, and someone asks me what my parameters were the last time I tested. I don’t know! Or should I say what so many say….they were “normal.”
So to combat my aging brain, I cracked out one of my old lab...
George, I don’t think it’s coral wars (i.e. sweeper tentacles.) Here’s a picture of the brain with a chalice to the right and a knob coral just below.
The chalice has been “pushing” the knob and will eventually win out. The chalice also recently made contact with the brain, and...
Lost said it, your RO membrane will remove chloramines. If you are a Nervous Nelly, you can switch out your regular carbon blocks with “catalytic” carbon. This carbon will also remove chloramines.
I think I might have found the cause for the above “whiting” of the mille (and now part of my brain as well). I installed two BRS dosing pumps about a month and a half ago, and I noticed that the calcium portion is only down about 2/3 when compared to the alk. I did calibrate both pumps, so...
I hate when this crap happens! Woke up this morning to find my teal milli with a couple of branches RTN’ed.
With the beautiful weather today, I haven’t tested the water. However, I’ve prepared 30 gallons for a water change tomorrow (typically do 15 gallons/week).
OK Jason, here’s how I’d play out this weekend: Tell your lovely bride that one of her Mother’s Day gifts is a fish that is as beautiful as she is. OR, better yet, tell her it's a surprise that is representitive of her beauty. You wanted to get a present that represented her beauty. This...
