    Interesting Solaris Info

ron - set the thing on auto and as ron popeil says "set it and forget it". That's how i run my G series...no issues so far. First test was the maxima clam - in my opinion (and Barry's from ClamDirect) the most unforgiving clam to keep. No problems for me (thanks AqOB!) and I keep it a good...

    GARF-WAY robbery?

yeah my big problem with these guys is: if you thought the PA website is terrible - you should go see this one! It hasn't changed since I first checked them out years ago. It boggles the mind how they are considered "non-profit". $72 shipping is crazy.

a reef? or you mean a sea grass biotope? Maybe have SH or pipefish DT? That would be tough though (especially if you plan on more 2 month hiking trips!!)

    My Oceanic Tech 120

Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input. the cobwebs are growing on this thread! lol. Hey I saw a pair of twin spot gobies at OGII. I was under the impression though that they were hard to keep (or that they should not be kept singley). I have to go double check what bob fenner said.

Cool I was just wondering. What an interesting leap from hyenas to reef keeping. By the way - I also like that planted tank - really unusual and interesting.

The problem with dosing is (as john mentioned) the difficulty around measuring what it is you are dosing. For example - Iodine is known to many as important in a reef tank. yet it exists in various chemical compositions that it is difficult to measure correctly - and worse, it's been documented...

    question. pistol shrimp.

I'd be surprised if they were able to harm the pistol - but how big is it? I guess if it had just molted it would be at risk. A large pistol shrimp should easily be able to stun a fish that is dumb enough to enter it's burrow. But that shouldn't happen as long as the goby is guarding the burrow.

    snail eggs

a general rule of thumb is that the eggs will not hatch (before the mag float cleans the glass)... ;D But seriously even if you were to somehow keep the eggs aorund long enough for hatching - the snails typically hatch into a motile swimming stage. That is - they get blown around skimmed/eaten...

Oh - i missed this. Depends on what it is you need. In my opinion most of it is not needed as long as you maintain a good level of water changes. But since a lot of us do not do that - we're left with rushing additives in to help keep the tank balanced (also it seems easier to dump a bag of...

easiest way to get rid of glass anenomes

glass anemone is another name for aipitasia right? then a bergia nudibranch is the way to go. Personally I'd just take the LR out and squirt a bit o lemon juice that you can get from any supermarket. I know the book says to "inject" the stem of the anemone but I didn't bother - mine was a...
