This is how I spent my time recovering, I read all six books in 3 weeks!
I liked the last two the best, but found them very frustrating as well. The thing that bothered me the most about the last book, other than losing my favorite wizard, was Harry's attitude. He reminded me a lot of my son's...
My original idea was LPS only, nothing else!
But then I decided that the top of my rockwork would look great with some caps. And then Mike and Merv gave me some SPS frags, and so it began!
What I have found is in a tank tuned for LPS; low flow, VHO lighting, lots of life in the water, not...
Lighting can raise passions higher than a good sandbed debate these days! ;D
That's why I sick to VHO's, everyone just ignores me as a crazy old dinosaur.
I think Solaris's claim to be as effective as halides seems to center on two aspects. First, the majority of the light produced is directed...
It should start soon. My colonies are about 5"-6" across now and have been dropping buds for some time. At first it was just a few, but now I get a couple of dozen a month from 3 colonies.
I have more real estate in my tank dedicated to frogspawn and hammers than anything else. My centerpiece is a good size bubble.
I wanted a torch, but the tank filled up quick and I really don't have a spot with a big enough safe zone to prevent a war! As it is I have to make some room to break...
Duh! I should of thought of that! ::)
I'll give that a try. It's easy to see when it's getting ready to drop buds. The branches that will drop tend to elongate and are a bit thinner.
I really think that anyone starting out as a beginning reefer should start with green star polyps, Kenya trees and anthelia. If you can't keep them alive, you don't have a future in this hobby! ;)
Now that I'm back in the game for more than two years, I need to reclaim some space in my 55 for...
I figure it's time to have a coral related discussion in this here reef club! ;D
Anyone else an LPS fanatic like me?
What do you keep? What are your secrets?
Pictures encouraged. When my daughter gets back from vacation with her camera and I finally catch up from neglecting my tanks for the...
I object! :o
That's the same attitude that allowed collectors to get away with using cyanide and dynamite.
We have a responsibility to the animals we choose to keep in captivity. I'd rather pay a bit more for a fish or coral that is handled responsibly. And basically, one of the purposes of...
I find the horizontal/vertical description confusing. The mouths should face up on most Euphyllias. My frogspawns are all up or tilted about 45 degrees. There are varieties of hammers called wall hammers that do well at a 90 degree angle.
Fenner's article describes my 75g lps system fairly...
Congrats Joe!
My best to the rest of the family as well. We went through the bed rest thing with our second as well.
Glad everything worked out, he's a great looking little guy! ;)
Sorry for the delay, I was in the hospital!
They are Seio's. An 820 and a 620.
Thanks everyone else for the compliments. The tanks have been a bit neglected for the last few weeks. Once I get caught up I'll post some more pics.
Thanks everyone for the feedback!
When I get some more camera time I'll get some closeups.
Steve,
There are a few small acan frags, but nothing as dramtic as the stuff you have! ;)
As you can probably guess, Euphylia's are my favorite! Almost everything in the tank came from club members...
