Just got back into town after 2 weeks to find this:

When I left it looked like this: Whoa.

Hey Mr. Green Mushroom, how's that fish taste?

So I was feeding my anemone today and my shrimp wanted part of the action. So I gave one a piece of silverside, and the other came running, so I gave him one too. Then I looked around to see if anything else would eat something and I saw Mr. Hairy Green Mushroom looking all plump. So, I gave...

    Allquatics?

Compared to the LFS around me, they have a really nice sw section. The place I usually end up at has about 15 fish and 2 corals at any given time. :P

Something live and visibly moving in a new tank...

You're welcome! You're asking about putting livestock in an environment that isn't optimal yet. I'm just saying things could die, that's all. Happens to the best of them (and to the rest of us, too).

Something live and visibly moving in a new tank...

Let me clarify... It's your tank, you can put anything you want in there because it's yours and you just have to be able to live with yourself if it goes south. If I may impart something I learned: Stay away from damsels...you'll never get them back out. Maybe a chromie or something.

Something live and visibly moving in a new tank...

You can put whatever the heck you want in there. Maybe go to Petco or something and get one of those huge hermit crabs I've seen there so many times. They're like a dollar and are really fun to watch move around in the tank.

    More Fish

How about a clown or even a pair of clowns? Maybe a firefish?

    More Fish

Well, with a hawk you have a 50/50 chance that all those crusty's would depart. My hawk is one eating mother, and he's just a lil falco hawk. He tried to eat my chromis, and they're the same size as he is.

    29g Reeflog

Update (new corals) 5/30/07: The pictures aren't the best because my wife loaned out our camera, so I just used the camcorders flash memory and took a few shots. Everything I put in is looking great, and the initial algae bloom seems to be coming close to it's life's end...which...

    Best Online Shopping for Corals?

    I like reefcentral.com, njreefers.org and manhattanreefs.com for corals. ;)

    algea/nitrate culprit

I don't know about the answer to your question, necessarily, but I noticed from the picture you have only 1 powerhead in your display tank..? More water movement sometimes helps with algae....helped with my hair algae problem, that's for sure...

Do YOU go to the Jersey shore?

I'm a big fan of the Bordentown ramp, a bit of river, a boat, and a wakeboard. As a matter of fact...I just walked in the door from our latest excursion. 77 in the deleware is nice this early! ;)

Do YOU go to the Jersey shore?

My family and I have always gone to Island Beach St. Park. When my wife and I go, we go somewhere around Belmar. There ARE a lot of people, but this is New Jersey....there's a lot of people at the grocery store, too. ;)

    29g Reeflog

After adding the fuge on May 26th, 2007: The water isn't really cloudy (even in the fuge), we just have the wall behind the tank painted yellow. ;)

    What to put in aquafuge..?

Well, for starters I'm not going to do the reverse lighting thing. I know it's probably the way to go, but for now, just not going to do it (will work that out later). Right now I have about 220 watts of PC power on top of the tank. 2 actinics and 2 6500k bulbs. It's crazy bright on that little...

    What to put in aquafuge..?

Ok, well maybe I'll try and hit it off with what my current plan is: I'm just going to scoop out enough live sand from the display tank to make like a 1/2 to 1 inch sand bed I'm going to break up some live rock and stick the rubble in the fuge for the pods to hang out in. This will probably...

    What to put in aquafuge..?

Hey guys, I picked up an aquafuge yesterday for my 29g. The guy hooked me up with a bunch of chaeto, too. I have a pretty deep sand bed in the tank, so I'm not worried about the small amount of sand I could put in the fuge. Even though it's a relatively big device, it's not even comparable to...
