That skinny little female mandarin at the beginning of this thread is now all filled out and bordering on a little chubby. I am hopeful that soon she will grow enough to mate with the large male who so far ignores her. I don't know why, she is cute.
These two fireclowns can't make up their minds. For a couple of years they were spawning, then for the next few years they fought, now they are spawning again. This has been going on for at least ten years.
The larger one is about 16 or 17 years old, I am not sure how old the smaller one is...
This is so cool. My decorator crab found some hair algae growing right at the water's edge behind the top black rim of the tank. I didn't even notice it. He is hanging on to it and eating it like spaghetti. It is hard to tell but that top bubble coral is a reflection off the water surface so...
Any pet shop, aquarium store, online.
Yes but if you sneeze near them, they will all mix with the shrimp and you will have to wait an hour to seperate them.
If you are going to do this all the time, just build a seperator. Find a couple of square containers, paint one black, drill a hole in...
Malulu, they are simple to hatch, if you just add the eggs to salt water such as you throw out for water changes they will hatch. But then it is a little of a pain to seperate the egg shells. They make devices that do this and they are cheap. Luckily for us the shrimp are attracted to light. So...
It's been a little over a month since I installed this thing and I love it. My tank has 3 bluestrip pipefish, and two mandarins along with some small clown gobies and shrimp. They all hang around this thing for a few hours that it has shrimp in it. In this tank I really don't have to...
He died at 7:00pm tonight. I just watched him take his last breath.
Then I autopsed his gills to see if I could find any paracites because that is the best way to tell if you have any in your tank.
He had the gills of a teenager, who never smoke.
His gills were in perfect shape and I could not...
I thought I would document the life of one of my favorite fish. This gobi has been with me for I think about 12 years. When I got him he looked like the first picture. Yellow and skinny. As he grew a little I bought another one and they became inseperable. After a few months, they turned...
I just looked at the tank (behind me) and this decorator crab is swimming at the surface. No he is not dead. How cool is that?
He can do that because he covered himself with bubble algae, which is filled with air.
I wonder if he knows thats why he is floating. I had to push him down to grab on...
I don't know what to do with my tank now. There is nothing wrong, no corals fell down, no fish bullying other fish, everything eating well, the corals are growing, no flatworms, ringworms, cyano, hair algae, ich, flukes, dropsy, pop eye, no out of date lights, don't feel like changing water...
OMG are they Crazy? UGF!, do they want you to keep your tank forever? What is wrong with those people.
Using a UG filter in a reef is absolutely Absurd. The nerve of them. Could Not possably work.
I'm still on a quest to take a decent video but I am not there yet. Here I tried with the pumps off. I am going to keep trying. These new camera's have so many settings on them that it could take a half an hour just to set the thing the way you want it. But they still come out kind of lousy...
With the correct size mesh, the shrimp try to get through but get stuck so the fish just suck them through the net. Almost no shrimp get lost because they can't get out on their own and the seahorses could eat all day.
