    Feeding and growth of LPS

You can put them in a processer if you like. I like to freeze them and shave of paper thin slices. In a food processer it loses a lot of clam because most of it turns to mush but it is the samr clam if you prefer to do that.

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I noticed that I have this wierd bubble algae growing only on my cement rocks. Randy gave me an Idea and suggested that it "may" be the iron that is attracting the algae to the cement. It could be another chemical in cement but I will try iron first. I made a slab of cement about 6 square inches...

    Facinating occurance

I have this bubble algae growing in a few places in my tank and in some places it is very heavy. I am not worried about it and kind of like it, but anyway, I noticed that it is just growing on my home made cement rock or the cement on bottles and none of it is growing on any real rock. It...

    Feeding and growth of LPS

I was just looking through some pictures from a couple of years ago and I noticed the progression of one of my Euphyllia type of corals. These are an easier type of coral to keep but I didn't realize it had grown so much because I see it every day. I think this first picture is about 3 years...

    Fried bristleworm

That clownfish is about 3" long so you can figure the size of the arrow crab. He is averaged sized

    Fried bristleworm

Yesterday I watched a 4" bristle worm get cozy with the glass heater. He wrapped around it like a boa constrictor and seemed comfortable. Then the heater came on and bristle worms are not really good jumpers so he fried. :o The arrow crab who loves fried foods walked over and unwrapped the worm...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

My 5' algae trough just about fell into the tank. It was so full of hair and other algae's that it filled up with water and became too heavy for the flimsy acrylic angles that I had holding one side of it to the side of the top rim. I remove the entire thing to make new (flimsy) angles. I...

    Interesting growth on rocks

I love it when something new grows in my tank, even if it is something that many people think is a plague. I just find it interesting. This is the stuff that stirs my interest in this lifelong hobby. This stuff started growing on my rocks a few months ago and at first I thought it was some...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I took some pictures. I can't get a full tank shot because the tank is so long and shallow. I love this algae although most people would not

    Love of the hobby

It works in all areas and out east thats how we would do it. Once we hade two bushels of live crabs and we put them in my cousin's basement. It was cool there and there was a sand floor because he didn't pour the concrete yet. There was also no lights. The next day we went down there and the...

    Love of the hobby

TanksNStuff, yes I did enjoy it. It sounds a lot like my life. Growing up on Long Island I spent many hours on muddy beaches and sand bars digging for clams. And crabbing either with the chicken leg or the four sided traps was my favorite thing to do, still is. It is such a shame that today kids...

    Love of the hobby

Getting into this hobby was easy for me. My family owned a seafood business and I grew up playing with dead fish so it was natural for me to start a tank. Of course at 2 or 3 years old I needed a little help. On fridays my Dad would bring me to the Fulton Fish Market in Manhattan which was...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Today I think I will go to a new LFS that opened up near here. I have a choice of about 6 LFSs with in a few miles of my house but most of them always get the same old boreing, common things. How many yellow tangs, angelfish and triggers do we need? I want to get a male mandarin to date my...
