Pump arrived today. Put everything together; placed in a bucket of water and seems fine. Should I run it for a few hours in the bucket to get any oil out or just drop it in the sumo and let it go?

Guess I will have to order a new pump. tried the washer trick but no good. The pump seems hot when you take it out of the water so am thinking its fried. Not sure how hot these pumps get though.

I found the replacement pump at Sea Side Aquatics for $60 plus $8 shipping. Anyplace cheaper?

Paul, Thanks for the info. This impeller is not the mesh but pin/needle wheel type. I guess I can try a few plastic washers and see what happens.

I have a Nac-7 skimmer and today the pump stopped working, Atman 2500. I took the skimmer apart and cleaned the pump, which was clean anyway. No broken parts even the ceramic shaft is okay. It will start pumping for a few minutes and then stop any ideas? Mark

Looking for a pump for the pond at least 500gph. Also, need something like an OSI or Laguna. You know with the slots/vents on the intake side. The feeder fish are getting sucked into the Mag pump and sometimes the turtles foot gets stuck. Tried a pre-filter sponge but restricted the flow...

I agree with Phil. I tried to keep a small group of 5 clowns and one by one they were singled out and died until I had a pair.

Two things caught my attention in that video. 1) If the end cap hole is to small he stated it will create a siphon and drain the tank. To big and it makes noise so its trial and error there. 2) He said he would give approximate GPH for the overflow depending in size of PVC but he never did. I...

All is well now. Skimmer is doing great.

I picked up the tank today and noticed the following defect. It is more of a small sliver of glass is missing. I am concerned of the tank leaking or cracking now. Here are some pics and any opinions appreciated. The pics make it look bad but it doesn't to the eye.

I decided to buy the 120g and worry about the stand later. I will create a build thread when I start this project.
