Nikki, I think you are correct. I am torn as I can get about 20lbs of Red Sea salt for $8. I gave the IO Reef Crystals a shot but didn't like it and was going to back to regular IO but for $8 I may give it a shot.

I know there was a post comparing the different brands of salt but can't seem to find it. Can someone point me to it or re-post. I have a good deal on Red Sea max but wanted to check it out before buying. Thanks

I agree many water changes and hopefully no issues. Sirfragalot, I hear you. I won't even let my wife wipe down the canopy. If she claims its to dusty I wipe it down along with the glass. This way if something goes wrong only have myself to blame, which is better than arguing with the wife.

I always heard those skimmers are crap. If you are doing regular water changes your ammonia should not spike or not to much anyway.

Well, After this second battle of hair algae in about a year I have decided to rinse all my frozen food before feeding them to the fish.

I give you an A++ for taking the fish from a bad environment and trying to give them a better home. I hope it all works out well for you.

Paul, I was thinking the same thing but I was more concerned about the K3's turning on after maintenance. I never had them start in reverse, knock wood, fist hitting head.

I don't have a QT setup but think you would want new water not old water. At least its what I would do if had a QT. You would provide trace elements, etc. that were used up in the QT and DT tanks.

SirFragalot, Do you have a pic of that mod on the K2? I have two K3's on my 75g and the start up noise is horrible. Thanks, Mark

I always thought 1" / gallon was a fresh water rule and saltwater was 1"/ 5 gallon. But Sid brings up a good question. How important is this rule? I would not include inverts here just fish. In the example of 100g and 1"/5g that would yield 20" total of fish. You could put 10 2" fish in the...
