If your skimmer intake is a few inches below the surface it should b ok. U could build a little wall/trap out of live rock between the skimmer and where the overflow line dumps in. last year i pulled a tube out of mine to check it cause there was a mountain of salt creep plied around the outside of it. There was a little build up of salt in it. that was around 2 yrs of use.
