I'd put it opposite the return and on a wave mode not constant speed. This way it will interrupt your existing current. You get some more flow patterns this way. If you put it on same side as your return your gonna have all your flow the same way. The flow more the merrier!

Your wiring probably won't be right for a gfci outlet. Just buy an outlet strip with a circut breaker in it

I think it's a waste. If your water has electric current in it you have a problem. Better off checking your whole electrical system and finding the problem instead of masking it with a probe

What kinda tank you have them on? Reef? Do the corals like them?
