Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Figured I'd try! ;D
My wife wants a telescope for Christmas. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I want to make sure she can get one that she can actually SEE things through. (not neighbors, celestial things! ) She has one of those el-cheapo Toys-R-Us models, but you can't see squat.
Any...
As long as you can solidly replace the brace, removing it temporarily shouldn't be an issue unless the structural integrity of the stand is already compromised.
Didn't even think of that. Good point! Definitely one for me to remember as I get more into different corals.
I agree with the temp thing. If you float the bag, then remove it to drip acclimate and do not come up with some way to maintain the temp, the bag just goes back to room temp. That's...
If it's just one fish or a coral, I put it in a large capture cup and hang it in my sump so the the water rushes around the cup. I use an air line hose and a valve to drip water from the main system into the cup.
I usually make up a quick bucket of water before I leave for the fish store trip...
Call me crazy, but did anyone actually HELP this poor guy with his tank problem?
I think it's time to (I know, not the popular option) lock this thing down. It's never going to end.
And quite frankly, I'd like to see the poor guy get his tank under control more than I would like to see which...
If you look at the pictures of Maroon's angel, you can see the beginnings of the yellow markings on the face just in front of the eyes. Also, the yellow pectoral, yellow edging on the dorsal and tail as well tend to make me swing more towards the juvy blue/yellow face. Also, look at the shape of...
Well, if you are handy and can put together an inexpensive canopy for it, you can go retro and configure it a little at a time anyway you want.
I have a nova extreme T5HO fixture, and I have found nothing I can't keep under it yet, including a crocea clam, alveopora, acros, monti caps, zoas...
I'd have to go with Absinthe on this one. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
However, in the interest of fairness, they DO have a return guarantee, but you pay a 20% restocking fee plus return shipping costs, which could total just about half of the purchase price.
Plus, I'm not...
I would have to go with juvenile blue faced angel:

Just my opinion.
I would have to say that they do pass through the return. When I introduced them to my system, I did it via the refugium in the sump. I have since seen them in the display, so they made their way there with little issue.
I still like to turkey baster them up and drop them in the display. My...
Candi, I think you have a "super strain" of the little buggers. The water I pulled from your tank when I got the rock had a few in it. I used a turkey baster to pull them out and drop them in my sump.
Now, a few weeks later, my sump is SWARMING with them, and I swear, I couldn't have put more...
Hey reefer, algae could be caused by combinations of things too.
I'd have to agree on the one photo period.
When I upgraded from NO flur to T5HO, I had a HUGE algae bloom. You name it, I had it, all at once! I found high nitrates, phosphates AND the sudden onset of extreme lighting were my...
Hi Twan, it's an alveopora. I just got it on Saturday morning, so I will have to keep you posted. I know that everything I have read says they are difficult to keep, but I drip acclimated it for about 2 hours. It actually started to open up before I even got it into the tank. Within about an...
Ok, thought I should post some info.
Main display:
90 gallon AGA/RR with overflow kit (thanks Francis! :) )
1 x Hydor Koralia #3
20 gallon long tank/homemade sump with Mag 9.5 return pump (throttled back just a tad)
and refugium with chaeto and god knows whatever else made it in there from...
I have found it to be hit or miss with either. I have 2 blues and a red that are at least the size of quarters without their shell, and they don't agitate my corals, but they do whack any hermit I put in there smaller than they are. I call them the "hermit hit squad". They are responsible for...
Don't have any full shots yet. I want to get some more rock in there. It's looking kinda pathetic right now. LOL!
But if you check this thread, you can see my jawfish and my puffer:
