Point & Shoot Recommendation for Macros?

What's the best point & shoot camera for taking tank macro shots? I'm new to this forum so any links to existing threads would be appreciated...

    New product -Possible Reef Usage

Interesting stuff. I didn't like the "sugru isn’t suitable for use in direct or prolonged contact with food" part, and have to wonder why it was necessary for them to state that.

    gonopora

I get that way about some things in the hobby too. But I prefer less open-ended targets. When do you declare success? After you've kept one for 10 years? After you've kept 10 for 10 years each? And, if you succeed at either, will you even know why? The person telling the story I repeated...

    gonopora

Re: goniopora Here's a story I heard from a well-known aquarist at the MACNA3 cocktail party... Gonioporas are a great coral for retailers to carry. The hobbyist buys one, it does really really well for six or eight months, and then suddenly dies. The hobbyist blames the loss on something he...

    Kalkwasser Powerhead Recommendations?

Anyone have any personal recommendations for powerheads to mix up kalkwasser? I expect they'll all eventually need cleaning, but which ones require cleaning less often?

    Black Friday SALES

Champion is running an interesting sale, with up to 20% off if you spend enough. What I find unusual about the sale is that you can get 10% off Tunze, Vortech, Neptune, Digital Aquatics Reefkeepers, and others, where most sellers always stick to the MSRP. Check out...

Lanthanum Chloride article by Daniel Knop

Please don't tell this to my Yellow Tang. He's been swimming through a daily Lanthanum Phosphate cloud in my sump for a few months. Do you have a link for the story? I did come across a story about a retailer in Cleveland who stressed a number of tangs in an apparently fish-only holding system...

Lanthanum Chloride article by Daniel Knop

Boomer, This is the first time I've seen a reference to using a sub-micron filter to remove the precipitate. I think sand filters can get down to 20 microns, DE down to 2 or 3, and filter bags down to one, but how is sub-micron filtration accomplished? Thanks, Bob

    cheap nori

I'm not sure where you are located, but look for an Asian food market. There's one near me in East Hanover, a few doors down from Hanover Pet (a.k.a. Aquatic Visions). You can usually get large packages of 50 sheets for 5 or 6 dollars. I recommend getting the smaller packages as I find the nori...

    Get corals off the sand

Not sure why you did this, but here's a good reason... Returning from the weekend at MACNA I found that my old black sea cucumber had pooped sand all over my 3"x5" Alien Eye Chalice and killed off 2/3rds of it.

    took the plunge

We'll never know, but if they weren't properly maintained maybe they wouldn't have been fixed under warranty. I've been running my oldest Tunze (a 6000 bought used) on a Tunze controller for four or five years now. I had to clean it once, about three years ago.

    took the plunge

I'll stick with my Tunzes. The Vortech demos are neat at MACNAs, but it seems to me that over half of the used Vortechs offered for sale these days have just had their wet side repaired/replaced under warranty. My LFS has ordered a number of replacement wet sides for customers. Interesting how...

    Aquarium Controller Reviews?

Dave, I won a Digital Aquatics (http://www.digitalaquatics.com/saltwater/)ReefKeeper Lite (Level 1) at MACNA. So far I like it - the system in nice and modular and you can add more modules as you want to expand the capabilities. They have a trade-in upgrade path to the Elite head from the Lite...
