First off, I thought filefish were iffy when it came to coral. You might be onto something here.....either all that aptasia X and/or all that death of the little devils. I'd do a relatively large water change....in the 30% range or higher.

How long have you had it and where is it in relationship to light and flow? Have you changed anything….lights, salt, dosing, reactors? What do you do to dose and what are you alk, calc and mag numbers? What’s the frequency of water changes and volume? What is your nitrate looking like...

I’m not sold on drip/water acclimation of corals. I temperature acclimate by floating and then dip in Bayer. I see no need to drip/water acclimate when the coral is going into a nasty dip solution. After spending 15 to 20 minutes in the dip, I rinse with tank water and in it goes.

Yes, a concrete saw....and the large ones wouldn't have a problem cutting through a 7 or 8 inch piece of rock. I wasn't even thinking about these saws, but that might be the way to go......however, real messy...do it outside.

When you say “slices,” realize a tile saw cannot cut thick stuff. It’s good for cutting tile…..maybe an inch or so in depth at max…that’s it. If you want to make slices of the rock, like slices of bread, you’ll need a bandsaw with a diamond blade (a frag saw). And with that, you’re limited...
