I agree. Simple is best. I just can't get the nitrates to go under 20ppm and nothing grows. I started dosing kalk and see a growth on coraline algae. I figured vodka dosing would help elimenate the nitrates. It's cheaper than those sponges which I really don't think work anyway.

I don't quarantine. Rarely perform water changes. I test parameters whenI feel like it. I only temp acclimate.

Since my skimmer seems to be working better I may start Vodka dosing agian. What do you think?

Bob, That is what I did for some. But I took a rock out because it had way to many and used a screw driver to pluck them off and then rinsed the rock off. The crab doesn't do **** with the bubbles. My question really is what causes it? High nitrates or whatever. Mark

Okay, smolw what ever bubble algae I colud find. I used a wood rod attached to a siphon and picked them sucking them up. Some rock had too many. I took the rock and removed them with a screw driver, some did pop before coming off. I rinsed the rock afterwards. Hope I got them all or most. I...

Phil, I will post a pic tomorrow. He dragged a branch in the house about 4 foot long and was chewing on it. I will also post the GBTA pic tomorrow but Patriot76 if you have them for sale go for it. No hijacking or hard feelings just poor timimng on my part.

I have bubble algae growing on the the bottom of my overflow and not sure how to remove it. I was think turning off all pumps and use a plastic razor blade sliding down and a net underneath to catch the algae. Will that work or is there a better way?

Would scrubbing the rock prior to bleaching speed up the porcess? I would break the bubbles and release spores but should die quicker I would think while in the bleach/water solution.

Not many do. The ones that do you should have a good relationship with them which could take a few years. Best bet is post on some reef sites or Craigs List.

Noticed two lights out tonight now and both controlled by the same switch. When I try to turn it off and on I hear a buzz and nothing happens. Maybe the switch is bad?
