I took the fixture down and checked the ballasts and no leakage, nice and clean. I then remembered I had some old bulbs and tried them and they fired right up. I will eventually check the ballasts as the link states and will check the bulbs in another fixture, probably stop at a LFS.
I purchased 4 new bulbs from a vendor here in Sep 2009. Two months later one bulb died; I contacted the vendor who gave me the manufacturer email and number. They replaced the bulb with no problems. I noticed today that another bulb is now out which is why I think the bubble algae is starting up...
I gladly pay the $10 and say thank you. Unfortunately, I have 4 of them and I added a 5th, held for someome. They didn't like it much as it was much smaller than the others. I had to use a separate tank until they picked it up. Good luck.
I have two tanks I left outside in which the bottoms cracked. One is a 30g and the other is 15g or 20g.
These are free if anyone can use them otherwise in the trash next week.
I have a 75g standard tank. The top brace is broken and the overflow wall is missing. The tank is drilled on the bottom. I used this for two small tortoises and covered the holes with plexi-glass using aquarium glue. For sale or trade. let me know what you have.

I agree with Dave. It's part of maintanence and you can't rid it completely. All you can do is take action to decrease the frequency in cleaning. I run a phosban reactor, use carbon and lowered the timing on my lights. Now I clean the glass 2x a week. I hope my skimmer change makes it once a...
I started dosing Vodka in early 2009 but stopped because of tank issues. One thing I want to point out is that you should have a good skimmer or ensure the one you have is working very well. I believe this was my downfall with dosing. I have recently moved to an older skimmer with a larger pump...
I increased the air flow during the day and then heard water over flowing from the collection cup tonight. I throttled it down so now its just foaming. Why does the skimmer to have increased performance at night compared to the day time with no adjustments?
Rich,
The one on the ALS is very similar. The berlin is different and came with this way from Red Sea.
Yes, I would like to try the mag9 on the ALS. I will get back to you for time convenient for both of us.
Thanks
Bax, thanks for the offer but Bloomfield is a little far to travel for me. I have been gauging it by observation. In the past they would skim nice for a week or two and then stop. Adjusting the air flow only caused it fill with water and spill out; no matter how small an adjustment. The Berlin...
I appreciate that Rich. I have the venturi for both skimmers. Berlin came with a built in one for better lack of term. ALS is a separate piece. No problem if the mag9 stops and starts; just experimenting now.
I never felt my skimmers were perfroming well; one is a Berlin classic and the other is Aqautic Life Systems.
Red Sea claims that a 500pgh pump is fine for the Berlin so I hooked up a mag5. The ALS I got from a fellow reefer and came with a mag7. The ALF skimmer performed a little better then...
Be careful what you ask for. I bought 20lbs at a LFS near my work and it turned they didn't cure the rock, even though I asked them. I had a very bad red slime out break and lost fish. I complained and the manager stated the staff was fired for not curing and fibbing to customers. I paied $3 a...
