You will almost always get some film algae on the glass. It is just a part of life. The skimmer you have should be helping limit it to some degree. Did you see the group buy announcement with instructions?

Well flushing comes from having a loop/dip whatever you want to call it in the drain pipe. Straighten/shorten the pipe and you will get rid of the flushing. I say that without seeing your sump. OH yeah and I speak from experience as I have gotten rid of the flush and lowered the overall noise...
