    Another ID Please

He litterally sat in the same exact spot and never moved for over 1 month. As soon as I put the new rock in and I am now deflecting the water flow from the powerhead he has been on the move. I gues his furthest move was about 4 or 5 inches in 1 night. I did watch for a while and HE is moving...

    Another ID Please

Also, I just "Googled" Mushroom Corals and found a site calling this coral "Red Discoma Mushroom" or "Fire Red Mushroom" Discoma Sound right to the experts here? They suggest Moderate to High Lighting and Moderate to High Flow. And that's all I found, so far

    Another ID Please

Now there's a perfect answer and in a record 10 minutes. Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I have no other choice but top let him go where he wants to go. I had him in the front of the tank on one of the large rocks on the bottom. Now he keeps moving off the rock onto the bottom (all glass no...

    Another ID Please

    Dead in 8 seconds....Litterally

Hello All, Here is definately one for the record book. And one for the "Unbelievable" book, as well. Let me first set up the scene. I feed my fish from a small "Dixie" clear condiment cup. I put the food in the cup with some salt water from the tank and pour it into the tank to feed. If and...

    Cause of High Nitrates???

Hi guys, Been outta the loop for a while but back now. I have a question that I pretty much already know the answer to but I want 2nd opinion (and 3rd and 4th, 5th, so on). My brother has a 45 gallon corner tank. He had about 10-15 lbs of LR in the tank and alot of "fake" LR. ($ issue). He is...

    Mynd's Getting Married :)

Congrats..... Best of luck to both of you. If nothing else, 25 years of marriage has tought me one thing. It is NOT 50-50. If you each give 50% failure is emminent. Marriage is absolutely 100-100. Give it all you have and the rewards are so much more than I could ever describe to you in a...

    Cycling a tank quickly

The 4 raw shrimp (from the seafood store or local super market) method is the only method I found that works fast and efficient. It was much faster than the normal cycling with damsels and such. I also strongly agree that rushing the cycle could have tragic resluts. Good luck, Hope it works...

    Tank Murder's ;_; so sad :(

And I thought only Mel Brooks was capable of creating such a humorous outlook on a tragedy. Dude, you got the gift..... run with it. Ummm.... Comedy, not reef keeping! Sorry to hear of the losses. One of the downfalls of the hobby as most of us learn sooner or later. And most of us the hard...

    Newest Controversy

OK, two weeks ago I decided to create a small "Brine Shrimp Factory" hatcher. I weighed the cost of going to the LFS every other day and the actual cost of the brine against buying the materials and hatching my own. No more need to go to the LFS for food anymore. This system would prove cost...

    WC Free Filter?

OK. I've thrown the breadcrumb out in another post and never even got so much as a single nibble. So I am putting it out here. Apparently, a few years back I heard of a fish store in Tom's River NJ whose owner has invented / discovered a saltwater filter system that was supposed to be...

    CPU fans?

NewEgg is where I had suggested. A 5 volt fan would probably work with a 12 vdc power supply and a potentiometer (Radio Shack) ~Jim

    Protein Skimmer Upgrade

While the subject is here and still hot. I have been thinking of upgrading my Prizm Deluxe skimmer to the Remora C. I have read alot of good things about the Remora and alot of bad things about the Prizm. One thing I do NOT like about the Prizm is that is is throwing alot of micro bubbles into...

    Input on my newest project

I like that idea Albie, but how do I get behind all of the rock (90 lbs) to vacuum it out as well as get behind it to add in the new sand? This was my first thought, but could not figure out how to clean behind and under nor how to get the new sand behind and under. Also, I am going to be adding...

    Input on my newest project

You guys would "scrub" the rock? I was thinking more on the lines of just shaking off the loose debris and gunk. Wouldn't scrubbing kill some of the good stuff on the rocks? Such as polyps, tube worms, sponge, etc. I plan on changing 10 gallons of water. Good enough? Or would you guys change...

    Input on my newest project

Hello all, As I warned in one of my other posts, this is finally the post introducing the major project I am undergoing in the next couple of weeks. First, take a look here at my tank. http://www.yoursaftnet.com/jimtank.htm What are my plans? I want first to (once again for about the 5th...
