The only way I know to gage a skimmer is to see how much stuff it pulls out. You may not get much coming out until you put something into the tank though. I got a small amout of stuff while my tank was getting setup but nothing compared to once you put some load into it.

hey killa thanks, so u know it fell into good hands, inexperienced by ill do my best to keep the legend living, thanks indirectly if it is urs

It is my old tank. Do you still have the SCWD hooked up to the pump? I see the two outlets going into the tank. Did you get the refugium from Danny as well? If you are using the Remora as an in sump skimmer I would try to hang it on the back of the sump. It was made to work HOB. I just ran in to a similar problem with my new Euro-Reef skimmer. I had it too deep in the water so it wasn't skimming properly. Sometimes that will mess with the head pressure of the pump, and might raise the water level in the skimmer to a point where you won't get the foam to form the proper way in the skimmer. If that happens the skimmer will not produce any skimmate.

To give you a little history it was my old nano reef tank. I had about 45 lbs of live rock between the main tank and the fuge. I kept a deep sand bed in the fuge as well, with Caulerpa as algae. I had 2 fishes. One of them Danny has right now, and the other one is in my new tank. It had about 20 LPS corals, some Mushrooms, and Zoas in it. It was up and running for 3 years before I sold it to Danny. If you need anything please let me know. I'm always willing to help a newb out!

so i noticed a small leak coming from the back of the overflow, bought some sealant and slapped it on will give it another try in the am hopefully problem solved

it does help and i noticed umusta done the same originally on this one, its not leaking from where the ulkhead meets the box its actually leaking below that, i sealed it so well see tommorow, worse comes to worse i can get a new one, i think the model is cs50 anyway that can be confirmed?

not really a great pic but its leaking at the very bottom of the black piece (bulkhead) and up where the nut screws on if that makes sense

You can always get a new bulkhead with a new rubber washer to put on it and reseal that connection. The connection might have loosened up a bit in transport. It is a CPR CS50 overflow box.

well last night i put some sealant on but it seemed to be leaking still; re applied aquarium sealant this morning, i dont even t hink id be able to get the bulkhead apart at this point; ill wait another day tommorow morning ill or maybe late tonight ill give it another run, keep ur fingers crossed, right nowi hae a tank of water and rock tough to look at it

hey in case this doesnt work out i found a lfs that sells pro clear overflow boxes anyone have any experience with these?

i dunno if theres much more that could be done to it, ive sealed it to the point where u wont be able to remove the bulkhead i believe... i know the packaging says 24 hours but do u think i could get away with trying it sooner?
