Acclimating a fish now...I am afraid to pull the trigger and add him. Lil help please

As most of may know, I have a 90g reef and these are livin in it...

2 clowns
3 chromis
1 goby & pistol combo
flame angel
flame hawk
2 female square anthias
Banghaii cardinal

My wife wants some blue in the tank. I am nervous with a blue hippo in a 90g with the residents. So, I was talked into an Orange Tail Damsel. I have always been told stay away from damsels, other than clowns and chromis. Bit, I was told he'd be very cool in a 90g with no other blue damsel in the tank. I am acclimating him now and am vbery nervous to pull the trigger....help.

Well since you already bought him and are acclimating him, unless you have another tank set up and cycled there really isn't any options other than putting him in. Pretty much all you can do now is hope for the best.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. If your wife likes it, I'd bite the bullet. I've got two Blue Devils, and that's the only reason they are still in the tank.

Jim, he is also called a blue devil. I was told he wouldnt be a problem as long as he was by himself. Gonna do it after a few prayers.

The older they get, the more territorial they get. In this case, territorial means mean and murderous.

I had a Neon Velvet Damsel that allegedly killed two of my other fish. He was summarily relocated and put into the witness protection program. A true devilfish, if ever there was one.

Have a fish trap ready!

I would second think the damsel,I have had many damsels and some have incredible colors as juvi's,but as the mature they lose those colors and become drab looking. Also IMO I think as most damsels get bigger the meaner they get, sometimes even bitting the hand that feeds them.I currently have a japanese damsel that was incredible as a juvi and now is UGlyyy and is mean as a goblin fish. Some other options for blue fish could be maybe..an atlantic tang,or maybe a blue neon dottyback,a melanarious wrasse...just to name a few off the top of my head...

Damn... I am a BOOB! I was sold on what I read as opposed to listening to experience. I hope ALL of the bad experiences you all have went through dont affect me...I think it's just wishful thinking. Its as if this darn fish had a spell over me. I knew he was bad, he looked bad, then I made a bad decision. But he sure is pretty! I figured out he is an Australian Orange Tail Damsel.

whats wrong with a blue hippo tang? ours is the second fish we ever bought, lived thru a salt spike of 1.039, power outages, kid feeding cheerios to the fish,
and some other thingsi i cant remember, just swims and swims

Had an azure damsel,

Was great for about 5 months. Then he started chasing everyone.

Left my net in tank, waited two days, finally caught him. Returned to fish store and never looked at another damsel again.

And from what I was told there are some of the friendliest.

Hope you dont go through what I did.

So far so good. But I am quite confident that he will go ballistic one day. He is very pretty in the tank and very well behaved. However, probably short lived though. Hopin I dont have to get him out. If I do...I will listen like a good boy and do a hippo tang.

I know a guy that lost $1200 in fish due to a $4 domino. He had a 450g and wasn't looking forward to removing all of the rock just to find the little B@$^#&d but 1 day he finally did it. I told him that I put mine in my sump when I got it out and he told me that I was a better man than him because he threw his out on the sidewalk on a hot summer day and let the ants have at 'em. I know that's twisted but is it wrong that it still makes me laugh a little?
