Algae growth

i recently had a minor algae outbreak, it seems to be strictly on one piece of LR (small piece) and i researched it and it seems to be a few solutions, first of which is light deprevation. i am hesitant to pursue this method because i dont want to hurt the coralline growth i have within my tank and the second method being water changes and monitoring levels. my levels seem to be fine aside from my phos which i am currently trying to get under control. sits around .5-1 now the majority of the algae growth is on one small rock small enough to where i can take it out of my tank and quarantine it if need be. my question is this, what is the best method to get rid of the algae growth or should i just continue with regular water changes and let it cure over time. i also have a HOB refugium which seems to be helping a little (i intend on buying a skimmer as soon as i get paid next week) i know this should help me with the algae and phos levelsphoto (3).jpg

If you can remove the rock do it. I would scrub it and bake or dry it out.
Yes, it will be dead rock but be LR after a few weeks when you put it back.

Get the phosphates under control and the algea should disapear.. But you need to figure out were the phosphates are coming from? Are you using tap water or ro/di? How long has the tank been running?

i believe the phos is from the rock curing, its a fairly new tank been up and running for a few weeks. just started doing water changes with RODI hopefully this will get the water under control. i'm thinking of doing a 50% water change this week but first i'm going to order the hanna hi 713 to ensure i have an accurate reading. about how long does it take for rock to cure? is there anything i can do to speed the process? im suffering from diatom & minor green algae and id like to do whatever i can to get my phos levels down so i can get rid of the both of them its a real eye sore

Do you have a sump? Do you have room for a fuge were you can add some cheato? Also a dual reactor running carbon & GFO will go a long way towards controlling the phos. And algea issues...

i have a HOB refug, supposesed to pick up a sump at the swap & a skimmer next friday when i get paid. no dual reactor though, its a slow process lol
