It usually a 1 lb of rock per gallon for dense rock. It depends on which rock you plan to use. Pukani rock would be .50 per gallon. Just be warned that Pukani is a great rock. You can stack it with seamless rock work, and carve it very easily. But it is high in phosphate for months

Not recommended, as there are too many unknowns in your tap water.

You could purchase pre made salt water from a Local Fish Store and can fill er up that way. If there is a Petco, you can purchase their pre-mixed brand of salt water as well.

You will need to consider purchasing a RO/DI unit as it will save you money over the long haul
