Locomotive Trains under water off Jersey shore!

I just watched this vid from the History Channel about 2 Locomotive Trains, sunken off the coast of Long Branch, NJ.

Be warned, it's about 45 minutes long (no commercials either, yay!) Very cool story and I'm sure many of you will enjoy it as much as I did.

I hope they leave them there so I might have a chance to dive there and see it myself some day.

These cars and many other train cars that were tossed into the ocean are breaking down and falling apart. They also tried this with tires but the tires are rolling around.

It seems like a good idea but in the long run its not going to last.

These trains (in my link) weren't put in the water on purpose though. They are assumed to have been cargo on a ship or barge and somehow got lost at sea over 100 years ago. There's a very interesting historical aspect to the story if you watch the entire vid. The trains discovered seem to be rare specimens since only like 6 others like them are known to exist, these being the biggest of that type ever made... and we have 2 right off our coastline!

Its been a common practice over the last 100 years for our country and our states to dump stuff off the coast.

During WW2 our government plowed so much equipment and vehicles off the coast. It wouldnt suprise me if these were dumped intentionally.

These were not dumped intentionally, they were part of a cargo shipment on a barge that sank.
