MACNA Sept. 4-6, 2015 - Washington DC

Either of you stop by the maxspect booth and hear if they have any updates coming with the gyres? I'm thinking about picking up a pair. I know they have a larger model in the works but that appears to be a few months out. They seem to be running sales on the current models which makes me wonder if some updates are in the works.

Congrats on the win. Really cool that the owner at ProAquatic was so cool.

We won the 30g JBJ from R2R and also a skimmer to NJRC represented at MACNA?

I also won 40lbs of caribsea liferock. Similar to the real reef stuff (I actually think it looks better, more natural) So with that and the clowns (plus the fact that my big old Maroon will kill the other clowns in an instant no doubt). I ended just getting a IM Nuvo Fusion 10 on BRS. Of course, while i was there i ended up getting a gyre 150 so i can move my mp10 to the nano.

All in all my $50 in raffle tickets cost me $450! However, the way i explained it to the other half was that these clowns cost about 300 for the pair so the net cost is only 200. lol.

I spoke to Chris and they did not mention anything new. I got some new blades for the smaller model but that was about it. They had a huge gyre they made for the Long Island Aquarium that was just so absurdly big.

One theme that seemed to be very apparent was "lagoon" tanks. A lot of the displays incorporated mangroves etc. One of my favorite was the AI booth. While I'm not really into all in one tanks for big displays that IM 120 shallow Reef was stunning.

What was the poop on the Mindstream booth? The pre MACNA buzz was that it would be mobbed because it was the new kid on the block.

I think this was the best MACNA ever. Great presentations and it all ran smoothly. Very cool stuff at the show. Heard a lot about EcoTech's controllable DC return pump and the elaborate Neptune systems controller. I only picked up a few frags, from Dr. Mac. They cleared the exhibitors out very quickly on Sunday, there were very few last-day deals. Yes I am a cheapskate.
